My female rat is about 1 year and 3 months and I can't tell at all if she's pregnant or just chunky I've been keeping track of her weight and it's been going up like crazy, I need help immediately so I'm prepared if she is. Also if anyone needs pictures I'll gladly post them, thank you in advance.

Yes we need photos of her, a top down and a picture of her stomach would be ideal for figuring it out.

Here are the pictures of her I even have top photos of her sitting and standing normal just for a different angle 🙂 sorry if they are a bit blurry she's a wiggle worm

Pics would help.

How much contact has she had with your male rats?
There are pictures uploaded to someone who replied you can look at them there and she ended up escaping and getting to the boys and I believe she was in the boys area maybe 30min to 1hr max not to long I noticed pretty fast

And I also know that rats are good at hiding if they're pregnant and I read that weight is a good indicator if she is pregnant or not and I have been weighing her almost everyday and her weight has gone up drastically and if you want to see photos of her weight let me know I'll send those as well

If it was more than three weeks ago, she’s probably not pregnant. Three weeks is average gestation time for a rat. If it was more than four weeks ago, you should be in the clear. She’d be at the end of a longer than usual pregnancy, and there would be no question that she was full of babies.

(Anyone with more recent experience with pregnant rats, please feel free to correct me. It’s been more than twenty years since Hannah came to us already pregnant.)

Well the thing is it hasn't even been a full two weeks yet and she keeps growing and gaining weight so like is she pregnant or not and I know rats are pregnant that long I would like some more help please cause this isn't helping me out

Okay, originally you said, “A few weeks.” Was it a few weeks (3+), or two weeks? This is one of those times accuracy is important. Remember— what happens in vagueness stays in vagueness.

Thank you for the help, but someone was nice enough to help me and messaged me privately and confirmed she's pregnant

Hi, can you give us updates on your pregnant rat?

Hi yes I wasn't given a proper answer and last I was here she ended up not pregnant which is good I guess but now she got out of her cage don't worry I fixed that situation she can't get out but when I got her from the boys she had a mucus plug in her private parts so does that mean she's pregnant??

Hey yes photos would be great again, unfortunately if she did have a plug there are good odds on her actually being pregnant this time

She sure is cute and I'm glad she's being tolerant. Since I don't know exactly when she got out she might not be showing yet(especially if it just happened) keep a very close eye on her and I would compare her to these photos in a week or so to see if she looks bigger(it can be hard to judge when you see them all the time!) you can also post the new photos in a few days/a week so we can help judge. But as of right this moment she doesn't look pregnant
