Mission Control -- All is ratness
Last Wednesday, Dolly had a mammary mass removed. It was tiny, affecting only the lowest left nipple area. Since the vet was going to be down there anyway, I asked if a spay could be worked in. She said yes, and so it was done. Everything went smoothly! She’s healing nicely, but, given how active she usually is, especially with her family, she’s going a bit bonkers not being able to be with Lynda and Oleksii. She’s still getting solo out-time, but we’re trying to keep it shorter and keep the zooming and climbing to a minimum.
Dolly had some visiting time with Lynda and Oleksii today, and they were all SO HAPPY! She’s healing well, but it’s still a bit too soon for them to go back together. I don’t think the others would do her a hurt on purpose, but rather that she might be over enthusiastic and pull something open by accident. As she heals, she’ll get more visiting time.
If you’ve had ladies spayed, how long did it take them to heal? Any complications? How did you handle active rats who don’t do well alone? Did you stick to the full 10-14 days of separation? If not, what did you do?
