You guys act like this isnt my thread LOL I wll be more around after this weekend. This court case and lfe is just winning right now.

Hahah right! I just talked to my sister in law and she's down to help me with raffle / auction stuff. She works at Macy's at a Philosophy counter and gets lot of high end freebies and samples that she wants to donate. :)
She's loves rats... used to be terrified before she met the girls. I was showing her how to give them a treat on Saturday while we're gone, she thought it was awesome haha [emoji14]

It has been a week for sure.
I am moving my youngest out to my moms :) Great move to get some real life not living under mom's house :)

We lost Grim today. He had scarred lungs from the virus and has battled on an off but he was also 2 or over. He never warmed up to me, but was loving the treats we gave him while he was sick. He was a sweet boy just super skittish. He was with a group of boys though so that is far more than what he was when i got him.

Yesterday my youngest brother was married :) On the way home from work for his marriage at the courthouse ( he is on a 10 day leave from the marines) I seen this on the side of the toll road. 70 mph double highway.

This is the chicken on the side of the toll road. Semi's doing 70 down 3 feet near her. I seen it on the side of the road, got offf the toll road got back on, then did a uturn in the no uturn zone LOL stopped and scooped her up once I seen she was alive. I just knew by how she was sitting she was not dead. So I was right and hopefully she will live. She is getting water with chicken electrolytes and has food.

I took her to my moms and put her in the tub. Her beak was cut off so that the chickens kept in confined spaces were not able to peck other chickens. They pluck each other feathers out and this poor girl had it rough. SHe had NO meat on her bones and she sat on the highway for i dont know how long.

I work daily with them i am seeing a little progress but it is a slow progress.

off to bed now. I dont have much else to report :)

Poor sweet little chicken :(
I'm glad she passed with a full belly and a cozy spot to sit.
You are doing great with those kittens! If hands only mean good things like yummy food though, they will be looking for you soon. :)

I made the lighter one angry but I had to sex her today. SO I had to touch her. The other one is doing great. She will let me pet her and she is starting to enjoy it. The other girl, both are girls will take a little more time. You can see her loving the petting. I need to pick names for them.

Considering how old those kittens are, they are doing remarkably well. It's amazing they will let you touch them already.

I know. I dont know if it helped they associated us with food outside but it was mostly Kait who fed them faithfully.

The man that I was emailing was kinda jerkish about saying "I wouldnt worry about socializing them I would get them spayed, and momma and daddy"

The clinic that spays only does it on saturday and I am not sure if they do feral cats. I left a message but wont hear from them till this week.

It just goes to show that there is always hope. I wasnt sure if would be setting them free again after a spay but seeing this, I think they will come around. We took two girls off the streets who would end up producing more feral cats so either way it was a small win for them.

We have a very active Trap-Neuter-Release program here, thanks to one of the local vets. This is a rural area, so people just dump cats thinking they will go find a barn to live in. They try and pull the babies from the feral mom before weaning as they have found it very iffy to try and tame the adolescents.

It is from what I have read on, they recommend to get them before 8 weeks but my heart had to melt its cold cat exterior then I couldn't handle it anymore.. It was difficult because if they wouldnt be social then what Do i do them? That was the problem i was having with deciding to take the girls. I still havent found a place to do TNR on the mom and dad. I need to figure out how you do it. I am not sure I can pull it off or not.

The tortie girl was seriously purring for me. I have step "b" planned I will remove this corner hut and give them just a bed so they are not so hidden. The one is taking a bit of work with me. I am hoping a few days of petting her while eating will help me break that little barrier she has up.

Rat room number two. I had to get them out of my living room. Kid moved out, rats moved in.

Peggy you're like Snow White being surrounded by all those animals! I so want to come over. Your house is my heaven :) The picture of the rats at the window made me laugh out loud! Your curtains are indeed on borrowed time. Believe me I know! You are doing an amazing job with the kittens. I can't believe the change in such a short amount of time. It's incredible. They are beautiful cats. I really hope the pretty white one can let down her guard.

Roo is precious :kisses:

I quoted you Joanne so you could see this. I was floored. She was the hardest one to catch, she was also the one who would not eat if we were near them outside. The other one was more friendly outside but is terrified in the house still.

They will both be spayed, get shots and treated for parasites on Saturday.

I'm speechless. That's just amazing. I didn't think that was possible at all, let alone in such a small time scale. It looks like a totally different cat. Well done Peggy! Hard work is paying off. She really is a beautiful girl.

How awesome is that!!!
What a huge difference in their future you have made - from cold and hungry and pregnant to soon finding their forever home with lots of love and attention instead. :D

Doodle came to me on July 6, 2015. Owner surrender with allergies. It took me just under 6.5 weeks for her to shatter my heart when I had to let her go today. We found a mass on her eye. Fought it with every single thing I could toss at her. It grew regardless of my efforts to spare her. She was the most spunky thing I have seen in a long time for a girl of 3 years old. She never stopped running, she became the biggest food stasher causing my poor handicap rat Roo to get himself stuck between the litter box and the wall of the cage trying to get the stuff she stashed in between there heart emoticon I came home yesterday to find her eye tumor has turned necrotic. I loaded her up with pain meds and waited till I could get her in today. This sweet old gal, ran up to the end and I mean literally up to the end. Even when the drugs were kicking in, this sweet girl was still running up my chest to get to my shoulder. My vet was amazing and hugged me, she told me my heart was so good. She made a very difficult choice a little easier telling me it probably outgrew it's blood supply but we fought off an infection but it was double the size it was yesterday. I hated to have to let her go, she took a chunk of my soul with her. I will be forever grateful I was the one to make this choice for her, so she didnt have to get to the point of not running like crazy. Play hard my sweet little doodle butt, you showed me love and why we rescue and you shattered my heart so I know I am still able to rescue. The moment I stop crying for you and your rat friends is the day I will stop rescuing.
