Hello a few days ago I found a female domestic rat outside of my apartment complex, after about an hour of coaxing her with Peanut Butter I was finally able to grab her and get her into a small hamster cage. She is a very sweet rat and didnt even try biting me when I had to grab her multiple times, I have spoken to the humane society and have informed my apartment manager about a found pet but nobody has come forward to claim her, and after alot of thinking and consideration I have decided to keep her, I really felt like this was meant to be. Now I was hoping to get some advice about her because I can not find anything online lol. She has quite a head tilt going on and has been sneezing pretty frequently, I have scheduled a vet visit but the soonest I could get was next Thursday, on the 9th. Yesterday I noticed she is a little chunky and I am now worried she may be pregnant. I have been putting shredded paper in with her and she has built a nest but I am not sure if that is a sign of her being pregnant or if it's normal rat behavior. I have moved her into a dark room and have covered her cage to try to keep her stress free but I am not sure if I should do anything else, if anybody has any advice for me that would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
PS her name is Peanut Butter
