Hello I am new to the forum I own 5 rats. I have a rat named pepper, She’s a dumbo rex that i adopted about eight months ago with my partner. She’s always had issues with eye boogers and i assume it is due to stress and possible trauma after coming from an overcrowding situation. About four days ago I noticed her head was a little tilted, I didn’t think too much about it until I noticed it was worse the next day. By the time i realized it was a medical issue it was the weekend and all vets are closed. On top of that one of the two small animal vets near me has stopped accepting exotics leaving me with only one place and i’m worried they won’t have any appointments for a few days. Its always her left ear down, she’s not itching the ear, there’s no obvious inflammation that i can see, no smell, but she is tilting her head constantly and rolling in circles a lot in my hands when i try to pick her up and check on her. I saw something online about giving her high calorie food to keep her energy up ? I also know that usually antibiotics are the treatment for ear infection and i have some left over from a previous medical issue with another rat, i’m just not sure if it’s the right kind to treat an ear infection and even if it is what the dosage would be. Please give me any advice you can, i’m really worried and I absolutely hate not being able to do anything. It’s hard to get a picture of but I will try to include something.
