Hi I've recently come across Aristopet Avicycline C Oral Antibiotic for birds and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this works for rats? My 3 year old rat is on .2ml doxy 2x a day for upper respiratory disease. She's still full of life and loves to run around and adventure but I haven't noticed her breathing get much better nor her appetite. I can always take her back to the vet to try out more medication but where I am the appointment itself costs $130 + medication so I thought id ask about prescription free options first.

Never heard of it but sounds like it is similar to doxy.
Personally I would get baytril (Enrofloxacin) from the vet

doxy only works by itself for mild URIs
Doxy is much more effective when baytril (Enrofloxacin) is also given, and if you r vet has recently seen her then maybe s/he will add baytril (Enrofloxacin) without charging for an appointment (if antibiotics help then thy need to be give for 4 to 6 weeks, if not working then other antibiotics or a combo needs to be tried)
baytril (Enrofloxacin) + Azithromycin is another effective pair of antibiotics to give
