can rats be housed in aquriums?

My 3 female rats are currently being housed in an aquarium, but while doing some research on YouTube @The Rat Guru said housing rats in aquariums can cause stress, respiratory infections and boredom...
Is this true?

All very true. Never house rats in a closed space like that. They need air circulation.

Yes

Rats need to live in large cages
Your 3 girls need to live in a cage that is at least 6 cubic feet in size with a base at least 30 inches by 18 inches and height with levels .... but larger than this is better

Rats need a solid 12 inch diameter wheel, several hammocks, a house, tubes, chew toys, two sources of water - at least one of which is a water dish that can not be upset, boxes to play in and chew, etc ...... there are lots of ideas posted in various threads on this forum
