I found a bloody pee in my rats' litter box yesterday morning.
I had my two boys neutered in June and figured I had found a great vet, but when I spoke to them found out that aside from neutering, they only treat cats and dogs. I'm not wild about the vet they were seeing in the past.
I've spoken to several exotic vets in my area, which are all booked out several weeks. I've gotten mixed responses as to the urgency of the situation from each.
I figured out which rat it is, my good boy Pickle. As I said, I found a bloody urine puddle in the morning, and later he did a dark, cloudy pee on a paper towel. He is alert, perky, hungry and otherwise grand.
How concerned should I be? Can he wait the three weeks or so for a regular vet, or do I need to hurry him into urgent care??
Attached are photos of the two incidents, both from yesterday.
