alone for a month

My rat has been alone for about a month. First we had difficulty finding available rats, then he got an abscess on his neck and we had to wait for it to heal. Recently we found a breeder who had baby rats but they are currently 2 weeks old and they said that we can take them when they are 4 weeks old. Also they will have to be 8 weeks old when I start introducing them to my current rat, meaning we would have to wait a further 6 weeks from now to get Bodger friends. He doesn't seem depressed after losing his friend and he still is running about quite happily. However I think I will wait until more baby rats become available sooner rather than making Bodger wait another 6 weeks. I just want other people's opinion on this. Thanks.

If Bodger is over 12 weeks old, then yes, babies would need to be at least 8 weeks old - 10 weeks is safer, before starting physical introductions.
