We are picking up at least 30 hamsters from that girl's house who I got the 17 babies from. I am going to have a girl from a guinea pig rescue riding with me. I am not sure the condition of these things but I am hoping they are healthy enough or ok enough. There may be tons of babies so i Have no idea if they are even counting the pregnant mommas or the babies.

The girl from the rescue found out that someone tossed 4 guinea pigs out in a box in front of our zoo in the middle of the night recently so we shall be picking those up so Amber can take them home. She will also take home some hammies to adopt out.

Tonight I have Katie and Michelle, Katie is who I adopted trey my tripod rat from. and also Lydia and Marinette who was for Cobby. She is bringing us a little white hamster for my daughter and Michelle is bring a sick older rat, he sounds to me like his lungs are bad just been noisy for a long time. I am hoping we dont have to keep to many hamsters but I have no idea. They will take a majority of the hammies home.

I will take and post pictures later.

I at least got all of them sexed and split up. but who knows what is gonna happen with babies. I expect an explosion

At least 2 litters in here...

Good luck! We took a group of 40 dwarfs in last year and none had babies, I think because they were in such poor shape they stopped breeding. Hopefully you will be lucky also in that regard. You need to figure out a way to house adult Syrians alone, they cannot be housed in groups. Sometimes dwarfs can't be housed in groups either so it'd be good to have a spare tote or tank ready if you need one.

I only kept the pink cage which i will take to my mom to let her foster and watch over them for me till the babies are big enough to split up
. The big boy with the dwarfs was removed and is going to live with katie. and she took the other tank of mommies. and I kept one sickly boy that was looking rough but much happier to be alone. They took all the others. thankfully.

It's very lucky the Syrian didn't harm those dwarfs! They're all different colours, hopefully that makes them easier to rehome.

Ok so here is a run down... 15 kids living in that house..........10 dogs, bearded dragons, geckos tree frogs and I am not sure what else.
The guy with the hamsters. I tried to talk to him and explain that is causes so much damage.

I kept one cage with 6 girls and had wee boys in it. Hopefully they are not pregnant. They will sit here for a while so we can watch them.

Here are some pics of the one I got.

4 of the girls, two are younger so not very old

the mommas seem to take care of any of them. They are very good mommas it seems they bite me but I guess with so many wee ones It would make sense to me.

and the girl that was suppose to take some well she didnt but the other rescue took a majority of them thankfully.

If they are like mice, you cannot touch the babies or the mommies will reject them. We had many mices as babies - my sister loves mice, but unfortunately her Minnie turned out to be a Mickey which we found out after getting HER a female friend.... The first liter my mom touched since we didn't know she had babies, and she chewed their limbs and tails off. She went to pick her up to show her friend how fat she had gotten. Good luck. Still working on getting those cages back.

So far they are ok. These babies are bigger so they dont seem to mind it. There is one momma in there who has taken on all of the babies the most so I think the one who rejected that pinky baby another mom took her in. I am staying away from the pinky I wont touch that one but the little one with hair we have touched those. These girls seem ok some are crabby but they are small LOL they cant do a whole lot of damage but it burns lke hell. I am going to get some shredded paper today and put them in the bin cage but I have to wait on freezng some bedding for them. I want the babies out of that small cage and the pine bedding they are on, it is just not nice at all to try to keep count of babies.

We used to have to clean around them so nothing was touched. We had 2 mommie have babies at the time and they took turns nursing. Dwarf hamsters are not known to be nice - at least that is what I heard. The last two we had were winter white and not very friendly. The full size hamsters were very fun to have and personable.

Mice are a lot like rats, you can handle the babies. If you don't, it's harder to socialize them. I know with Syrians you really shouldn't handle the babies until they're 2 weeks old though, not sure if dwarfs are the same way.

Lilspaz directed me to a hammie forum and they have been amazing at helping me set up mommas and so on. I found a boy I missed but not like they havent been with males all this time so one more day shouldnt hurt but baby watch starts today. they showed me the list of ok foods which is amazing it splits up all types of hamsters.

I moved them into the bin cage, we have like 7 babies and 5 mommas and two single boys who I will make a bin cage for and try to see if they can live together.

I added a box and some tp rolls they just love having this cage, they have been burrowing and hidign all day. They got eggs to eat and are some happy hammies right now.
