Accessories For Sale Rat Themed Books and 2 Hammocks. FREE, just pay postage.

Hi friends. I am trying to downsize and it's time for the stuff in my house to go Bye-Bye. I have a group of books and 2 new, never used home made hammocks that I would like to send to a new home. I would only ask that you cover the cost of shipping, which I don't think would be too much...

Rat Shack Forum Server Donation Drive

I received an e-mail today asking for donations to help the Rat Shack address the cost of issues regarding their server. I'm surprised to not find mention of it in the forums. Hopefully we'll see the admins start posting about it, but in the meantime here is the link...

Hammocks from the Heart - hand crafted fleece hammocks - New Brunswick Canada

If you just want a simple hammock, go and buy some fleece at a thrift shop and grommets anywhere that sells sewing supplies. Fold and cut to the size you want and then add grommets in the corners and you're done! You can YouTube how to put in the grommets. Here is a picture of some I made...

    Possibe future abscess

Ethical breeders are as rare as Unicorns. And you said that your boys were bred to be feeders - that pretty much guarantees that they were not bred ethically.

Hi everyone, old member here, wondering who's still here

Hi Jane, I'm still here too, although I'm really just a lurker now. I haven't had rats for the past 4 years or so, mainly because I don't have space for them where I'm living now. I miss them terribly.

Disturbing Feeder Breeder on CL, Need Advice

Hi all! I would suggest contacting the By-Law department and file a complaint. (But you would have to find out where this person lives first - even if it's on the pretense of buying some of his "stock".) It's a round about way to deal with the problem because municipalities really...

were can i pick up revolution?

If your vet is using ivermection injections he's either behind the times and uninformed or is dishonest and profiting from your naivete. In addition to costing more I seem to recall in the past that lots of people had issues with infections and other problems at the injection site. Insist on...

were can i pick up revolution?

Advantage is great for fleas and ticks but doesn't have the ingredient that treats mites in rats.

    Need a US address

You can avoid the hefty brokerage fees by using USPS - United States Postal Service. If you use any other service for shipping parcels over the border you are in for a bad time.

Email from vet - Am I taking this the wrong way?? UPDATE

I think you hit the nail on the head when you stated that she was dismissive of all your input in order to show that she was in charge. I see it all the time. When my beloved cat Darcy was sick my vet may as well have put her fingers in her ears and sang "la, la, la - I can't hear you"...

    Rat Lover's Opinion

I concur with what Unepuce said. I would just add that since he seems happy and is showing no signs of pain, there is no reason why you can't just let him continue to live his life. You don't have to consider PTS until he no longer has quality of life. You could use children's Motrin for pain...

Saw this on facebook, RAT WHEELCHAIR

Looking at this I realize that it would be pretty easy to make a rat wheelchair. All you really need is any kid's building toy (i.e. KNex) and a little bit of imagination. I'm going to keep this in mind.

    Free Food to Barrie members.

Hi all! Yes, I'm still alive! I sent my daughter to buy me some rat food and shavings from Ren's in Oakville. After having a butt load of rats for so long she bought me a whole car load just out of habit. Problem is I only have 4 rats at the moment. So I have a 50 pound bag of Lab Diet 5001...

Marineland Again...Mass Animal Graves - No Permits

John Holer (owner of Marineland) is an awful man. This could very well get him into lots of hot water, but the irony is that it won't be because he mistreated animals. It will be because of illegal dumping. The MOE takes that very seriously.

    My first time with bumblefoot

You're right. BluKote is the best treatment for bumblefoot. In most states you can buy it in farm supply stores. It's a huge bottle if you're only using it for rats but it's not expensive. Be careful using it, that dye does not come off and it gets everywhere!

10 worst household products for greenwashing

Dawn is owned by P & G, who does animal testing. I buy Palmolive. Although there is still some testing it is minimal and Colgate Palmolive has committed to stopping the testing as soon as they are legally permitted to do so. Most of their products are not tested on animals.
