I got this big bag of unsweetened corn flakes from a friend. Not like the sugary frosted flakes but just some plain corn flakes. I tried some and they are fairly sweet but not overrun with sweet. It made me think of my rats. I was wondering if these would be okay for them to have since it seems...
I was looking at buying a new cage for my rats and I came across this one cage that I thought was pretty good for them.
Topeakmart 52" Height 6 Level Ferret Rabbit Small Animal Cage Hutch Indoor with 3 Front Doors & Wheels Black
The only thing that threw me off is that the bar spacing is one...
I am going to start litter training my rats and I wondered if anyone had any advice?
We have cats and I am pretty sure you can't use cat litter for rats but I was just checking. (I'm ready to buy them more litter)
Thanks!
I’m not sure who it was but one of the girls is having very big (1 inch) green mushy diarrhea like poops. I haven’t given them any new foods and they haven’t had any new treats. One of my girls is also sneezing every second and she doesn’t stop until she is asleep. I’m worried that there...
I’m not entirely sure why maybe she was just curious or something like that. She’s starting to come out more at night rather then just sit in her corner so I think that’s good. I’m glad your rats okay!
These posts make me feel a little better. At least I’m not the only one who scared my rat...
No, there isn't any hint that she is could be sick she sneezes occasionally so I'm not sure if that means anything...
thanks for the help! I just hope she feels better soon :)
The cage is very small and doesn’t offer any room for your rats to play. Some of my friends have male rats and they tend to get big, therefore that cage is way to small. Also getting a rat from any type of pet store that has rats usually doesn’t know how to care for them properly. Also I saw...
my girly had a little episode where she ran and hit behind the couch. I got her out but ever since then she’s been terrified of me. She won’t even take a treat from me. When she sees me she hunches up in a corner of her cage. Her eyes get big and I can see the blue in them (which I think means...
sorry I couldn’t find anything on this. I have 2 cats. My cats are not allowed anywhere near my rats, but they (cats) seem fairly interested in what’s on the otherwise of the door. My cats have brought in mice before. I would NEVER want to put my rats in a stressful situation, and I’ve heard...
I think one of my rats ate a hair tie (or just had a good chew on one) they are eating, drinking, pooping and everything seems okay, but I’m really worried. The hair tie has a rubber band type thing to make it stretchy so that’s what the second photo is. I’m really scared!
Help!!
In all the movies and all TV shows rats always eat cheese. I’ve also read that some people give their rats cheese, And lots of people don’t. Is it okay to give them cheese as a VERY special treat? Or not okay at all.
Also I see people giving their rats little baby food stars (I’ll include a...
Yes they are both same sex rats and I have bonded well with both of them. They are both girls and have also bonded very well together. So well that when they are apart they get very sad therefore I never separated them. Thank you for all you information it has definitely helped
so sorry to keep posting like this!
Anyway, I got my baby a new girly. I already have an idea of how I want to bond them (carrier and neutral territory) but any tips on how to make the bonding more successful?
Thanks!
Hello everyone!
My name is Bree and I live in the United States! Just here to ask my question and try to help some people out if I can! Happy to be here!
If the rash went away fairly quick I wouldn't jump to think that it could be rat bite fever. If the rash consisted of red dots on the palm of his hands or soles of his feet that would be a reason to be slightly more concerned. Although fever headaches and chills are common signs of rat bite...
So right now my baby lives alone. I am getting her a cage mate as soon as I possibly can (very VERY soon)
A lot of people say that it can lead to behavior problems and depression in rats. How can I tell if my rat is depressed and how can I help her feel better until she gets a new friend?
So I just got my new baby and posted a thread on her biting me. A lot of people said to get another friend for her to live with. Can everyone give me a list of reasons why this is good and also why it’s bad to only have 1 rat? Thanks!
EDIT: for her a playmate!
I have a new baby rat named Diablo (girl)
I got her on February 13 2019 and I haven’t touched her yet. I want her to settle in and feel safe before I touch her. When I moved her bed she bit me. Really REALLY hard. This has been continuing for the time that I have had her. Any tips on how to...
