    something like vomiting???

None of those. He only had rat pellets at the time. The saliva looked thick and white. I felt so bad for him. He looked awful. He is very greedy tho. He even steals from him mate when I give them a treat each.

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

For the whole 7 days, there was not one day when he had a full dose due to my administration problems. he will not have it with anything. the vet gave me another 5 days worth but i decided not to give it to him because he seems absolutely fine. at least i have a reserve should i notice any...

    biting during pay with me

I definitely can't afford that. i'm managing it very well now actually. i just need to be aware when he is that bat **** crazy mood. then i keep my hands well away from him. he is normally good. this biting thing is him getting over excited/hormonal but he is definitely not aggressive

I know rats can't be sick but two days ago I found one of my boys looking very poorly. didn't want to move much and didn't want food (he normally eats everything). he looked very unwell and didn't open his eyes much. there was something coming out of his mouth like sick. he also kept looking...

Rat frozen in terror or blind???

For that long? He must have been like this for a few hours. I mean he looked absolutely traumatised. I have zero idea why. Nothing here happened.

Rat frozen in terror or blind???

What would have caused that? He was better this morning and ate. He’s been snuggled in the blanket with George last few hours. I also saw him groom earlier; I believe that’s important. Not out of the woods yet tho. I am worried

Rat frozen in terror or blind???

This I know but he’s never been frozen in one place for so long. When I went later in the night, he was still there. I just checked on him this morning and he’s still a bit weird but he’s moved now to his blanket and he has taken food. I will definitely take a vid if he doesn’t improve.

Rat frozen in terror or blind???

It’s late and I’m in bed but need to just quickly post this cos it got me really scared. one of my rats, was fine all evening, had a great playtime earlier etc. Just now I went to say good night and he has been stood frozen in the corner moving his head from side to side (the squinting thing...

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

I try to do it in small doses as the full 0.5mL in one go would choke him. But he screams, tries to run away, there's me trying to restrain him...it's all truly horrible.... Even the little squirt I'm not sure he swallows as I see him trying not to and it dribbling down his face.

He's not ok with wrestling LOL

    biting during pay with me

He's been alright lately again. It seems to be a fluctuating thing (as hormones are). I don't wrestle with him at all and I don't pick him up if he's determined about doing something. He's been great so far. No problems stroking his head etc. Happy to sit on my shoulder when I get home from work...

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

So it's almost seven days. I have tried so many things including chocolate pudding with whipped cream. Seymour is having none of it. I have had to force feed him a number of times (well, most times), which was incredibly heard breaking and I cried because I feel like I'm causing him suffering...

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

I tried mixing in a dish but the risk is, Seymour won't take it and I will have wasted a whole dose. And then if i have to get all that mixture into a syringe and feed him, that's several times more liquid for him to be forced to have and more stress for him, which I don't want. I am now mixing...

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

I’ve never heard of it. I think it’s American. I’m in the U.K. I need to keep trying various foods to mix but in the mean time the problem is I’m wasting the medicine and giving him sub indicated doses and that’s a massive problem

    antibiotic administration; rattie refusing

I got antibiotics for both my boys on Thursday. They're not at all bad but the vet said it's best to err on the side of caution. Thursday night I started giving it to them with little success. Well, after the first time George has been ok but Seymour is totally refusing it. I tried coconut milk...
