SDA Virus (contagious rat virus sweeping through the USA)

How common is HPS and where in the United States is it most often found? HPS is rare. Between 1993 and 2011, a total of 587 cases were reported in the United States. The majority of those cases were identified in the Southwest, from the states of New Mexico, California, Arizona and Colorado.

    Hello People 🙂

Often, no procedure is the best course of action. You know this. She could be old, have a progressed URI, or, as is the case, a complication such as organ involvement. There's no removing a mammary tumor that has become an invasive tumor. You can't remove the parts of the bladder that are...

    Hello People 🙂

Anna, please do not assume the vet just wanted to "get rid of you". From my point of view from what I've read, and filling in the blanks, it looks as if your vet was planning to operate "depending" on the x-ray results (unless he actually opened her up as literally saw the bladder complication)...

SDA Virus (contagious rat virus sweeping through the USA)

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hate to this but is the best course of action to terminate every sick rat?

I think lilspaz spelled it out really nicely.

SDA Virus (contagious rat virus sweeping through the USA)

I'm not sure but I believe the virus is more motherly centered. Texas is not a known area for reported cases anyway. I think.

SOS! 15 day old rat won’t open one eye

He definitely does not have "Ruby eyes", or one Ruby eye. He'd need to have pink skin, (and therefore white, or light-colored hair) around the ruby eye, or at least very close by. As for his eye problem, looks like it has resolved itself, no?

When you Live Next to a Person Who hates your rats

Hi again Big Schpog, Under the circumstances, I am glad that this whole situation is going to work out for you. But still, I would stay low key, keep yourself out of sight as much as you can, not because you have to, just because it's the best thing for both you and your rats. Without your...

When you Live Next to a Person Who hates your rats

There are so many people on here supporting you that I had to pass on reading every comment. First Id like to say that you say you are small and frightened and that your limitations are causing you to be in fear for your life. Well, maybe you are in fear, but you are also a very strong and...

    What is Your New Normal?

My "new" normal? Is absolutely no different than my old normal, except I have to keep a mask I'm my car, although I usually just cover my face by pulling my t-shirt up over my nose, which is arguably just as effective. I refuse to adhere to my state's dumb mandatory 10pm quarantine/curfew for...

    Rat Having Trouble Breathing

If he's having trouble breathing and his feet are blue you need to see a vet immediately. He has CHF and needs critical care.

Can you possibly elaborate? Specific locations would be very helpful, TYIA if you can do it.

    Rat Having Trouble Breathing

Bluish feet is due to lack of oxygenated blood supply, or... plainly put....bad circulation. It can be cause by several problems, or combinations of, such as URI, ambient temperature, and, as is often the case, CHF. Treatments can vary and are best when devised between you and your vet, and are...

    Need help with Mammary tumor

FYI, Mdenny86, bruxxing, contrary to popular opinion, is not always a sign of content or happiness, but is also a sign of distress and discomfort, hence the recommendation by lilspaz68 to find the smallest dose

sexing a trouble baby- opinions appreciated

Oh, and if the hooded is younger than the 2 bigger boys by a week, then wait the week til he/she is the age that those 2 boys are now, and then you should see testes (as you do with the other 2), or else it's a girl. BUT, I think it's a girl anyway. IDK how someone can give you babies that young...

sexing a trouble baby- opinions appreciated

BTW, HER feet look a bit inflammed. What substrate are you using? Might want to go to fleece for a while and clean it every day. Just buy enough to change it out daily and wash the dirty fleece on a regular basis where you never run out of clean ones. Her feet look like classic pee burns due to...
