    Are my rats content?

There are several things I'd like to point out: ~The cage seems to be a bit small for the boys, A single critter nation would give them plenty of space to play and sleep, is much sturdier, and will be much much easier to clean. The cage you have now looks like it can be knocked over easily, and...

    Water bottle

My best tip is a bird waterer. They can be ordered online of bought in pet stores. The one I use screws onto the cage and is sort of a cup with an open lid that my girls really love to drink from.

    Wicking Fleece... HELP!!!

I'm working on setting up fleece and U-Haul cage liners for my girls. I've watched several videos and am trying to wick the fleece. I've washed the fleece on hot and rinsed cold with non scented laundry detergent and white vinegar about 5 times. I've dried 2 or 3. Every time I pull It out and...

    Hay for rats

What are you using for pee rocks? I tried to look into this and couldn't really find anything! where did you get them, what size, and did you have to clean them before putting in the cage?

    Aggressive biting

When I was first bonding with my rats I put wet baby food in the palm of my hand and let them lick it off. Be sure to go slowly and not use your finger, that may look like a treat the rat can grab. Talk to her whenever you enter the room, very softly.

    Hay for rats

I've seen that before too and seen people do it for mice. I'd be worried about the dust from the hay bothering them. I've also seen small animals such a G-pigs and bunnies pee on hay instead of eat it, the smell of hay+urine is pretty bad.

    I'm just curious

4 girls: Immie, Juno, Pax and Freya. Immie was surrendered to a local pet shop in a 10 gallon tank, I had to get her out of that situation! Juno, Pax, and Freya were from a lady on craigslist who was having an "oops" litter. They haven't learned their names, instead they come when I make a...

    So many bedding issues...

@ViciousCurse I don't use any air fresheners in my room, though I was considering buying an air purifier because I've read that these can really help with pet odor. Do you just change the fleece every few days to keep the pee smell down? have you tried anything under the fleece that would...

    So many bedding issues...

Would the U-Haul blankets actually help with odor? why are they recommended?

    So many bedding issues...

I've had my rats for several months now (getting close to their first birthday) I have 4 girls in a double CN and they get along great. My main concern is their bedding. At the start of my having rats as companions I was using fleece and washing/changing once a week. I switched to a paper...

    Puppy pads?

I use fleece and just replace it every 2-3 days. any longer than that and it gets too stinky. I have a bucket that I keep dirty fleece in and wash it in big loads. You'll need lots of fleece anyway because they LOVE to chew it

    Habitat questions! recommendations wanted!

I've also had that cage and it worked OK for 2 baby rats after it was covered in hardware cloth. These were my first 2 rats and the cage was cheap and seemed to be a good size. I hated that cage!! cleaning it was a pain in the butt!! I had to fit my head and both arms into the front door (about...

    Play Time— How Often?

I love my girls and enjoy letting them out to play when I can, however I am still a student and have a job so sometimes I’m only getting them out a few times a week. They have a huge cage that I’m slowly upgrading and plenty of places to climb/run. How often should I be getting them out ideally...

Seeking Advice on Making a Jungle Gym

I have double CN and I'm interested in making the bottom half into a jungle gym/ climbing toy for my girls. I've seen pictures of people using wine racks with modifications (such as rope ladders and tunnels) What should I look for if I want to purchase a wine rack to use for that? or would it be...
