    Underweight Rat

I've been giving her as much Ensure as I have been able to, but at the moment there is only so long I can actually spend out of my day holding the bowl for her. For some reason, Willow will eat plenty if I am the one giving it to her but will completely ignore any and seemingly all food/drink...

    Underweight Rat

The Ensure I have is the powdered form - how should I prepare it? Should I just scale down the ratio to a much smaller portion?

    Underweight Rat

One of my rats, Willow, has recently lost alot of weight. The other day her older cagemate/sister Coco died but she started loosing weight before that. I have noticed she is eating less food, and when I do give her food she likes to eat, she takes a long time to eat it despite gnawing away at...

    Sickly rat

Unfortunately, when I woke up this morning, she had passed. She didn't seem to have been in distress though - she was curled up where she likes to rest near the water bottles. Her nose was clear and she hadn't continued bleeding, so I think it might have been a neurological issue, as you said...

    Sickly rat

Well, I left her through the night so she could be in her cage and rest more, and so I could actually sleep. Surprisingly she is still alive this morning, and the bleeding seems to have stopped. He eyes are still cloudy though - she's blind in one eye. Is honey a good food to be giving to her...

    Sickly rat

So, my rat Coco is 2 and 1/2 years old by this point, if not slightly more. She lives with two other younger rats, each about 1 1/4 years old. Recently her vision has seemed worse and she lost weight, but I figured that was part of her becoming old. Her hind legs I noticed were becoming weaker...

    Possible Respiratory Infection?

One of my rats, Coco, has recently been making deep, croak-like noises when she breathes. It comes and goes throughout the day, but since she has been with me for 2 years by now, I am a bit worried. Her two younger cagemates, each younger than 1 year, seem to be doing alright. Coco has also...

My rat Died, and I don't know why

Yeah, I am afraid it might be an intestinal blockage. I had recently given them some old shirts to use as bedding, and to keep them warm in the cold (or as cold as Australia gets). And good luck looking for your rat - I hope they're OK.

My rat Died, and I don't know why

Just yesterday, my wonderful girl Frange died. Around three days ago, I noticed that she was incredibly thin. I could feel her bones, and she was incredibly light. She was eating, but I made sure to feed her more fatty/sugary foods, like honey. She didnt seem get any better, but was acting...

    Help- Possible rat poisoning!

Are you saying that Lucy may have a virus, and may not be poisoned as Aishar was? But is it possible for poison to spread between rats? Lucy seems to be improving slightly, and is awake and eating bits of apple, albeit sleepily.

    Help- Possible rat poisoning!

To add a bit, Lucy has lasted a lot longer than Aishar did, and is still alive (albeit cold, pale and lethargic) now.

    Help- Possible rat poisoning!

On Monday, my 3-month old Aishar passed after escaping the Friday prior and finding some rat poison the owner of the house had placed in random locations. We had no idea she was poisoned after we found her until she became sick and passed three hours later. She left behind her sister, Lucy, and...
