    lump on throat

yeah he's been getting spinach and kale "patties" (mushed up with some olive oil to hold shape a little better) the vet TRIMMED HIS TEETH so he "wouldn't chew his stitches" (ugh!) which really only made him not want to chew solid food at all, so we've been testing out textures to see what's...

    lump on throat

Yeah, the vet was almost willing to put money on the fact he got it all. Said it was very well encapsulated but more vascular than he was expecting. Nimbus lost more blood than the vet wanted him to. :( Took him quite a while to recover, I was nervous.

    lump on throat

UPDATE - he just got out of surgery, vet suspects possible mammary tumor, was very well encapsulated and the vet was confident he got it all. Slightly more vascularized than normal, possibly not benign because of this... any tips on preventing metastasis?

    lump on throat

Sorry those are huge, I uploaded them from Tapatalk off my phone. They were all taken about 10 minutes ago. Also, it's not like I was using a knitting needle, guys. :P I used a 27 gauge needle and did exactly as my vet told me when she showed me how to do it on my cat.

    lump on throat

1.) the lump is a little smaller than a quarter 2.) the lump grew rapidly (almost overnight, maybe over the course of two nights) 3.) the lump is pretty hard 4.) the lump is movable (i.e. i can grab it and move it around with his loose skin. It can be moved quite a bit.) 5.) he doesn't care...

How can I get my rat to behave

Most of the "big box" stores will only sell one gender to avoid accidental pregnancies. Does the store offer a health guarantee on their rats? If so they should cover vet care if either rat seems sick. You will just have to bring the rat to the store or call the store and find out which vet they...

Rats and Apple Cider Vinegar (water questions)

I think giving them the choice of ACV and pure water would be fine, so long as they can always opt for the water if they want it.

How can I get my rat to behave

If he is a domesticated rat he is probably freaking out because he is alone. Go back where you got him and get another rat that is the same sex. If you or the clerk is unsure of whether they're boys or girls, take pictures of their bottoms and post them on here and we can help. Rats should not...

    Hi From TX!

Lots of people cover their cages with hardwire cloth to keep small females from squeezing out! And lots of people make "Franken-cages" out of old bird habitats and such. I think it is more important that it is clean and safe for them. :) I don't think they would shoot you down without trying to...

    R.I.P Miloh- 8/14-12/1

You can use plain white flour to stop bleeding; it will congeal with the blood and look awful but will form sort of a scab to slow down the blood until you can get to the vet. :( Sorry life has deal you a tough hand lately...

    Rat play pen

Kiddie pool with chicken-wire/some other wire fencing type thing: https://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showfull.php?photo=10522 This works better for rats who won't climb out. If you have climbers, you can bend the top edge in or put toilet paper rolls along the top edge so they can't get a...

My friend Joyce's 10 year old daughter Renee just had her arm broken in a softball accident... She's really bummed out because she can't play for a long time and will miss many games. She LOVES rats so much... I was hoping maybe if you guys had time to post some cute pics of your rats and...

Opinions on a litter of wildies. ..

Don't mention they're wild when talking to the vets. Pet rats come in agouti too. ;) edit: "Mild leptospirosis is treated with doxycycline, ampicillin, or amoxicillin. For severe leptospirosis, intravenous penicillin G has long been the drug of choice, although the third-generation...
