    Wobbly Critter Nation?

Yikes! So after someone in a facebook group showed me this picture and told me about how the weld on their (only 2 month old!) CN broke and almost crushed their rats, I decided to just remove the legs from mine. Please keep an eye on your cages, guys!

    Wobbly Critter Nation?

So my Critter Nation is about 5 years old now, and has served me very well! But, it's at the point now, where the stand is very wobbly. This makes me pretty nervous. Have any of you guys found a way to keep it from wobbling, or am I better off to just remove the legs from the cage and set the...

I'm thinking about switching to a home made diet. Hear me out!

Hey guys! So I know it's been a while since I last posted, I'm so sorry. Rich and I moved to Washington State, and they have this amazing grocery store here called WinCo, where they have a really awesome bulk food section with so much selection! I get most of my boy's food from there now :) In...

Free tiles or "chin-chillers" for warmer weather!

BUMP!! Now that it's getting warmer out I thought this was important/helpful to share again! Still have some pretty happy customers!

    CN pictures...show 'em off!

Not too long, surprisingly! Maybe an hour total. I vacuum out the whole cage first, then take out the old liners, wipe everything down, and put in new liners. Once a month I take out their tunnels and lava ledges and toys and soak them in hot water and dish soap, and scrub them down. I love...

I'm thinking about switching to a home made diet. Hear me out!

I just wanted to check in and give an update on my boys :) So far everyone's been doing really well. I tweaked my recipe a bit more (Not surprised, are you? haha!) and I'll post that soon, once I get it all typed out :) So since starting my home-made diet, I've had 2 losses to my colony. Both...

    CN pictures...show 'em off!

Thank you! I try super hard to give them a whole bunch of extra little hides and shelves and toys. There are a few more in there than recommended, so they need all the room they can get! My boyfriend and friends always joke that it's impossible I have 14 in there, considering the most they ever...

    CN pictures...show 'em off!

My boy's current set-up :) I made them a fun new "nest" space from an old wire mesh wheel. I cut out a door hole, bent the ends of the wires back and curled them over to keep pointy ends out of the way, and sanded them down to be extra safe. I attached it to the cage with bolts, large washers...

I'm thinking about switching to a home made diet. Hear me out!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read everything over :) I love my babies, and anything I can do to keep them healthier and happier is worth it! I'm more than happy to help others, too, with keeping their babies healthy and happy.

I'm thinking about switching to a home made diet. Hear me out!

Spirulina is a micro algae powder. It's very, very nutrient and vitamin dense, and considered "nutritionally complete). It's easily digestible and natural, being derived from algae, which I like since it's not full of chemicals and synthetic vitamins/minerals. It contains all sorts of high...

Never give up on your pets, even the most difficult ones.

They definitely were. I miss little Nancy all the time, I know Sid does too. She'll be waiting for him when his time comes, for sure, and then they can be together again forever (Hopefully not any time too soon though, Sid's still a very healthy, robust boy!)

Never give up on your pets, even the most difficult ones.

**I know I posted snippets of Sids life here and there after Nancy's passing, but I haven't really sat down to write it all out. Thank you guys, for being with me in this adventure with Sid and Nancy, since the beginning. Sid and I both really appreciate the support we've gotten from you guys...

    DIY corner shelves for cages!

Seriously? My walmart always has them, right next to the cookie sheets and cake pans. That's so strange. Have you maybe checked Target? Or the Dollar store? You can order them from Amazon :)

    DIY corner shelves for cages!

It might, but instead, for a flat shelf i'd suggest using a cookie-cooling rack (You can get them at walmart, the dollar store, anywhere that sells kitchen stuff really :) ). You could cover that with a piece of coroplast cut to size, or just cover it with fleece. This is a video I made for...

GUYS. Sid is in the big colony!!!!

This has been my most difficult intro by far, so I'm so happy it's all worked out. Sid did end up having to get neutered, but it was for the best, and everyone's happy now!

He eventually woke up and ate it, his brothers were all passed out too. It was nap time haha
