    New Boys! - Intro vids

Intro vids from last night (2nd meeting, neutral) It seems to be going well. Thoughts?

How do you pick up your bitey rats?

I feel it's also worth mentioning that Peachy has a habit of screaming when picked up. The biggest problem is that I'm scared to expose any skin to him at all... Stormy is a bit friendlier, so I'll definitely try the baby food method with him, but I need to build up my own confidence before...

How do you pick up your bitey rats?

yeah, Peachy isn't bad, but getting bit is new to me and therefor terrifying. He's only bit a couple times, but since then I haven't let his face near my hands and used a towel to pick him up. Still a little nervous to try Peggy's method, as I'm pretty sure he's faster than me, but I hope I can...

Rat Losing Hair and Has an Abscess

DR was in chat yesterday, so I'll fill in what I can remember... The hair loss seemed to be excessive shedding with no obvious bald patches or scabbing. As far as age, I don't remember exactly, but he was definitely older ( I wanna say past 2, but like I said, I'm not certain).

    New Boys! - Intro vids

We now have 3 incidents to give us insight into Peachblossom's biting: 1. The boys were out for playtime on the bed, at the time the were both in the crinkle tube with Peach in the end nearest to me. I was scratching my fingernails in the fabric of the tube, Peach was watching. I had been doing...

    New Boys! - Intro vids

So I tried a tabletop intro with the boys and Paya tonight, and I think it went rather well :D There was lots and lots of sniffing from the boys, and Paya didn't seem to ever manage to relax, but I saw no puffiness or aggression  A more detailed post with videos will happen later...

    New Boys! - Intro vids

*sigh* Peach bit me again last night, not as hard this time, but still enough to break the skin. I've never had to deal with rats this nervous before, and it doesn't help that I'm now a little scared of them. (i.e. I don't want them anywhere near my face or hands) Not really sure where to go...

    Crass - gone

Have crass out with me, she very limp, eyes squinty and porphy, tongue hanging out if her mouth, chirpy breathing that wasn't happening before.

    New Boys! - Intro vids

So I'm kind of annoyed right now. Peachblossom bit me. I knew they were skittish and nervous, but I was not expecting to get bit. The other thing is that they're older than I was originally told. In the original email from the rescue I was told 8-10 weeks (and another 4-5 weeks of...

    New Boys! - Intro vids

The boys are pretty jumpy, and neither one will take treats from me, but I think they'll warm up eventually :) Peachblossom definitely has the most energy, he's been exploring the cage and running in his wheel nonstop :giggle: Stormageddon seems to be a bit of a lazy-butt, he's spent most...

    New Boys! - Intro vids

Well, I'm finally getting some buddies for Paya :joy: I'm adopting to young boys from the Georgia rat rescue, they're about three months old, and already pretty big. I got to meet them yesterday, and pick out my two from the six they had. Most of them were pretty jumpy, but one of them was...

New Cage for Cait! (Er... and the rats)

Hehe, yeah... The pic in the ad didn't really show how big and awesome this cage is, but luckily I had just bought the same one and could say, "THIS, NOW, BUY IT." Glad you managed to snag this, it's a good cage! I'm sure your boys will love it
