The "New Girls", Nym and Ari!

It is so fun having these new girls here - they are so crazy and love running around. Everytime I open the cage doors they are ready to come out for a new adventure.

The "New Girls", Nym and Ari!

They are little nut bars! Last night one jumped onto my head and used it to springboard onto the roof of the cage to run around. It was pretty funny. Probably funnier to watch from afar then being the one getting jumped on. LoL .

The "New Girls", Nym and Ari!

I finally picked up my new baby girls yesterday! They are about 10 weeks old. They are named Lady Nymeria (Nym) and Princess Arianne (Ari). Both names are nods to Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire series). Nym has a smooth, silky coat and Ari is rex with adorable curly whiskers and both of...

    Been away for awhile

Thanks Joanne! I know you were around here when I had my very first rats and you always gave me great advice. I will definitely post pics once I get them home! Should be next weekend I think. I spent all day today organizing and throwing out old ratty stuff - getting ready for their arrival :cheer:

    Pee rocks...??

Yes, I have used pee rocks in the past with my gals but they didn't pee on the rock any more than they pee'd anywhere else. LoL. Was good for keeping claws dull though. PS @Jorats some rats like to pee on rocks for some reason. So some people put a large rock in a pot of boiling water to kill...

    Been away for awhile

I know I have not been around for awhile, and who knows, maybe no one here will even remember who I am. I'm back because I got a reminder email about the forum and realized I really do miss it here! My last rats Dewey and Millhouse passed away a few months ago sadly and I am just getting...

Pulled out a stitch - help

Dewey pulled out one of his stitches - (he had surgery on a lump almost 10 days ago and was given stitches and staples) nothing is bleeding or oozing but I can see where he has pulled out the stitch ... Is there anything I can put on it like polysporin or something? I feel the need to "pack" the...

Do you know of Vets who visit your home?

Thanks so much for all of your advice and ideas. I appreciate it. What would you recommend as a good transport cage/carrier for two VERY big boys? I have an old critter keeper I used for my girls but my boys are quite a bit larger :giggle:

Anyone else have an aquarium? Need advice.

I have a 55 gallon aquarium which is mostly my boyfriends tank, with 6 silver fin tetras, and a 6 gallon tank which is MINE ALL MINE, which contains my beautiful thai male betta fish. My question is: What is the best testing kit for freshwater aquarium water? I want a kit that includes...

Do you know of Vets who visit your home?

My ratty boys are in good health; however, they are past the one year mark now and I have wanted to take them in to the vet for a checkup. But - they are not as brave as my girls before them were, and I am scared a vet visit will stress them out too much. Do you know of any vets in the lower...

    eCotrition Snak Shak ??

I can't seem to find a definitive answer so hope someone can help. I wanted to get the large eCotrition snak shak but noticed it has pine listed in the ingredients. Does this mean it is not safe for my rats?

    Eating own Poop?

Tonight I found Millhouse eating a piece of poop for the first time. I have never seen any of my past or present rats do this. I have heard that's how they recycle nutrients, but what has your vet told you about this? Any ideas? Maybe he was just extra hungry? LoL.

Broken wheel on Critter Nation - arrrghhh

I was just pulling the cage out as I always do, to vaccuum behind and underneath it. Suddenly the right front side wheel just SNAPPED right off. Luckily I grabbed the cage to stabilize it. Now I have a book underneath the metal piece where the wheel would be, but I am paranoid that it is gunna...
