    Live trap needed Orangeville

Does anyone have a small live trap I could borrow today/tonight? I'm in Orangeville but could pick it up in Brampton, etc. There's a rat hiding under the front steps of someone's house; they're away and some of the neighbours are trying to catch it, others are trying to kill it. :( It came out...

Guinea Pigs at Hamilton AC - sisters

These girls have apparently found placement at a rescue, and so have 3 or 4 rabbits, but we're not sure where yet. ??? My contact came in this morning and they were all gone!

Guinea Pigs at Hamilton AC - sisters

A pair of girls at Hamilton AC, were abandoned by tenants in an apartment building. :( They are named Daffodil and Tulip and are understandably nervous right now, but will probably be more friendly once they've settled into a good home.

CUTE mouse at Hamilton AC - SAFE!

Dahlia is a mouse that is at Hamilton Animal Control and needs to find a new home asap! She was dumped at the OSPCA on Oct 9th but they didn't have room for her. :( She is very cute as you can see! Typical mousey behaviour, "very fast". lol

    Poll on respiratory meds

We use baytril + zithromax if the baytril + doxy isn't working. I have had great success with it. I wonder why these vets would say you can't use zithromax for rats?

    Poll on respiratory meds

I voted for baytril and doxy combined. It's been my experience that using baytril alone rarely permanently gets rid of an infection (they'll get better for a while but then after a couple of weeks get worse), so we just do both at once instead of using baytril first and waiting for it to get worse.

Does anyone like baby chicks? :)

This is all extremely fascinating! :) I am a vegetarian for many reasons, but of course one of the main ones is how horribly the animals are kept before they die and how they die. If everyone could consume them in this fashion I would feel a whole lot better about non-vegetarianism. And...

Does anyone like baby chicks? :)

Awesome pics and great information. That is amazing about George and Greta. What is their story? How did you come to have them in the first place? Lucky girls that you did have them!!

wild or domestic? pics of his holes added

What are you leaving for bait in the trap? You mentioned bringing tuna with you, anything else like peanut butter? It can sometimes help to put little smears of peanut butter right on the outside of the trap door and a few more smears leading inside. Good luck!!!

Persian needs foster or permanent home asap - Guelph

Hey guys - a friend of mine that works in a vet clinic in Guelph just emailed me about a Persian cat they've been housing for Guelph Humane. She has been scheduled for euthanasia for what is likely a simple UTI and they are trying to find a foster or permanent home for her asap. Once she...

to treat or not to treat?

I would also treat after 3 weeks with no improvement - it's obviously not going to get better on it's own at this point and you don't want to wait until it starts to damage his lungs before starting treatment, it will just make it worse in the long run.

My Jaggy died a horrible death at the vet....A LONG story.

I'm so very sorry for both your loss and for what you and Jaggy went through. :( Maybe he was crying so much because of confusion brought on by the sedative? I know dogs make the most horrendous noises when they're coming out of anaesthetic...

    Healing could be killing

Also, even if you have "real" drugs, if you think your pet has one illness but really has another, you could be doing more harm than good by diagnosing and medicating at home. People often try and hide medications they've already given to their pets from their vet when they haven't been...
