    Scarborough Feeder Rescues - Safe

You can tell (or even show) Lumi that someone's got a serious crush on her... [BBvideo 450,375:2uindqvs]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amczCsD6jBQ&feature=youtu.be[/BBvideo:2uindqvs] As you can see, my boy ain't got a prey drive - he's just got a 'MUSTLOVERAT' drive. Lovell got...

Please tell me what color/marking my rats are.

The first time you saw a merle at Petsmart was this time? Huh, maybe they've changed their supplier because a few years back it was almost all merles...

    Seizures?

It kind of sounds like a mild stroke to me, but I'm not one of the super-almost-vet experts here. Does she truly only wobble to one side, and that's consistently to that side? If that's the case I would definitely point that out to the vet (i.e. she's always stumbling to the left when she...

Might have badly injured a couple rat tails during fire evac

Just keep stuffing their faces with treats and I'm SURE you'll be forgiven. They're probably more scared because YOU were scared, and as those feelings wind down in you, it'll wind down in them as well. Plus they're probably smelling all the fire suppressants and icky burnt stuff from next...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

My grandmother was the most amazing person I've ever known. She was born right before the end of WWI, in an area which was mainly bushlot with struggling farmers. There are only a few inches of soil on top of the Canadian Shield, and it was this her parents struggled to turn into arable land...

She's gone. I can't even wrap my mind around it.

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

She's 95 - will be 96 on the 17th, fingers crossed... She got the C. diff at the hospital, no question. She definitely didn't have it beforehand. Now what policy or procedure lapsed so she got it... I'm not sure if that will ever be clear. The original issues were pneumonia that she came...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

First a wee update from yesterday to give some context: Yesterday they had declared she was free of c. diff and put her in the hallway on a hard board stretcher to clean the room top to bottom - then a nurse came in and said the poop test done at midnight said she still had c. diff. :redhot...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

She's not doing well today. She wanted to go for a walk so they went to wheel her around and she felt faint. Now there's blood in her urine and the ER doctor is up here assessing her. Mom called us out from the farm, so it's really scary I think. Will post when I know more.

Hotch- rescued from the snake *Final Update July 30/13 p5

I know the feeling of the slow goodbye- first Chance after his stroke, then Duckie just a couple of months ago. I too used the "I don't want food" attitude as the way to know when it was time. My heart's still so sore over her, and I know it will take you some time to feel better. He was such a...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

Looks like my previous post disappeared when I had to reset. Anyway, it really is difficult caring for our elders, Joanne, though I would never, ever give up the honor of doing so. We had a bad nurse a couple of nights ago - she came to change what seemed like a full antibiotics IV bag...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

Well, it's better, it's worse, it's better, it's worse. The doctor said today it's a gamble in terms of which way things will go - he's doing an amazing job though, as are all the nurses (a particular shout-out to the nurses, they know Nana's name, call her 'dearie', and really really care...

    Milton - Nov. 2010 to July 16, 2013

I loved Milton, he was so sweet. I'm so sorry he's gone, but boy, he had such a wonderful life with you, honey.

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

Well she was looking worse up until Saturday. Then it was a little better - I think in total she ate 20 spoonfuls of mushy food/tapioca etc. Which is an improvement over nothing at all - still alarming though. Today wasn't as good. She was complaining a lot about problems in her stomach...

Please keep my Nana in your prayers (Update: passed away)

Hello everyone, I've been quiet around here, watching but not talking after Ducky's passing. Some has been adjusting to being ratless for the near future, but mostly it's just been so busy I haven't had any time. But you guys are my friends, so I turn to you in a time of need. My Nana...

Ducky - Last night - Palliative Help Needed

Dr. Munn helped her pass with the ultimate dignity. He is such an amazing vet. He let me stay with her the whole time. She was a fighter to the very end and they had to increase the final dose so her heart would finally stop - I knew her spirit had already left though. I gave her kisses...

Ducky - Last night - Palliative Help Needed

Yeah, my Dad spoils her rotten whenever I'm out of town - and, of course, spoils her rotten when I *am* here, lol She's sort of trying to nibble a little bit of cheese I gave her, but she's not making a lot of headway, and keeps losing interest - that, and her eyes are simply... dull, if that...

Ducky - Last night - Palliative Help Needed

Thanks Jo and Temblamomo. I'll do that with the metacam. She's lying very quietly on my lap, her eyes half open, concentrating mostly on breathing. She's the end of an era for me. What a venerable old lady (at least for me) - 34 months tomorrow.

Ducky - Last night - Palliative Help Needed

Well, it sucks. She's had such a good run, but I think tonight is her last night. She had a good last 10 days since I've been at my grandmother's - my sister had charge of medicating, and she did an outstanding job. I did as you'd posited, Joanne, and I took her off the doxy and baytril...

Oh, sweet, beautiful boy... Play hard at the Bridge with your brother, and I'm sure all my rats will keep an eye out for you so they can give you the grand tour of the place...
