I woke up yesterday and realised my female rat who's around a year and a half year old is quite ill, shes still eating but not as interested in people as she usually is and seems really tired, she gets more energetic when I take her out the cage and let her free roam.
Shes acting quite similar to when we had a scare of a PT only around a month and two weeks ago(she would find it hard to stand up, would walk in circles, couldn't eat with her hands) but for some reason, we went to the vet and the vet gave her an anti inflammatory shot and some baytril and I gave it to her for around 3-4 days and she got so much better.
Is it safe to buy baytril online with no prescription(I know this sounds silly)? I did have baytril left but I thought she wouldn't get ill again so I just put it in the bin because there was no use. I know its a silly reason to ask but shes not acting like she usually is and because shes acting like she was when we had the PT scare, I don't know whether to go to the vet for this and I did find a website called animeddirect.co.uk which sells baytril.

It can take quite a while for ordered meds to come...
I buy it from jedds.com or ladygouldianfinch.com, but it takes a long time to get to me in Canada, and probably would to you in England too.
Far as safety, the one's I mentioned have given me good meds. If you decided to order from elsewhere, google their name & reviews to see if they seem reputable.
For now tho you might want to see the vet due to time...

Please see a good vet with the knowledge and experience to treat rats
What you think is the problem may be incorrect and your rattie may require different meds
If an anti-inflammatory or a steroid helped, she may have a neurological problem.
Post more info and ask lilspaz68 …. you can also post ion the facebook group Real Rat Lovers Want To Know

Also as mentioned above, ordering meds can take awhile.
You need to be very careful where you order meds from as you can get other meds etc mislabeled with the name of the meds you want, or get meds that have expired but have had labels altered to deceive you.
Lilspaz68 may know of safe sites in the UK - you could message her

This seems like a controversial topic among rat owners, but my opinion is that it's good to have some antibiotics on hand. Pet rats do seem prone to different health problems and many of them are addressed with antibiotics. Couple that with veterinarians who are often uninformed or even uninterested when it comes to rats. (By the way, I do think overprescription of antibiotics FOR HUMANS is a problem and I avoid taking them unless absolutely necessary.) Deb Ducommon's Rat Health Guide has been very helpful for me and my rats and I do keep antibiotics at home. I buy liquid Baytril (meant for birds) from Countryside Pet Supply in the US.

I hope your rats are on the mend.

I always have antibiotics and other meds on hand
This allows me to start ratties on medication while waiting to get in to see a good vet.
It is essential to take ill ratties to a vet so that they receive treatment appropriate to whatever is wrong
