I have a little girl who was supposed to be snake food... She's about 5-6 months old and she seems to sometimes get swollen toes.? I don't know if it's a problem or if it's a normal thing . I forgot how to send pictures so if someone could tell me how to do that as well it be great.. I'm genuinely lost as what I'm meant to do..

Do I call the vet tomorrow ? Its already closed for the day.... That photo is from yesterday her toes are redder today..

Personally I would get her in to see a good vet with the knowledge and experience to treat rats and get her on antibiotics (such as clavamox).

I'll see if my vet will be in tomorrow!

I have never seen bumblefoot personally, only pictures. Your pictures seem to resemble the Google pictures for rats with bumblefoot. As SQ said, vet visit is needed to get antibiotics.

Bumblefoot can be caused by walking on cage bars instead of pans or fleece this can include uncovered stairs as well.

We just got back from a vet and has had medication for pain and to treat her feet that have Bumblefoot.

Unfortunately that isn't bumblefoot. It's usually a lump on the heel of the hind foot. It may be an injury letting in an infection which does happen. Does the swollen toes have any nip marks or small wounds on them?

This is moderate bumblefoot. It's genetic and often can be caused by obesity, or age as the sole of the hind foot drops as a rat ages. Rarely a rat can get a wound allowing staph aureus infection into it.

We do a deep clean every Sunday. We forgot to once so they went two weeks without a deep cleaning.. I think the walking on the shelves covered in urine is what caused it. They are NEVER going that long without a deep clean again .
