My landlord COMPLETELY dusted my apartment with GreenEarth Bed Bug Killer Dust and it is EVERYWHERE.

We got treated last Sunday by professional pest control and I made arrangements for Danzig at the time. My landlord messaged me the other day saying she wanted to follow up by applying bedbug powder around my baseboards and at my door. I argued it wouldn't be safe for Danzig but she insisted that she just wanted to be safe and suggested I keep him in the kitchen, which is separate from my bedroom with two closed doors in between. I agreed on doing it tonight. They were late, I had to run out and by the time i got back, the entire place was in a dust cloud!

A layer has settled all over my bed, Danzig's cage, heaps are on open areas of my floor, it's on the legs of my furniture, they put it inside my closet, on top of furniture, etc. AND. THEY DID THE F***ING KITCHEN.

I am so livid right now. We've been arguing all night. I covered Danzig's temporary cage with a blanket and he's still in the kitchen, where not nearly as much powder has been applied.

What do I do?! I'm cleaning my bedroom right now as she refuses to come back to clean it tonight. She told me to get a hotel and she'd reimburse me $100 - in TORONTO?! So I can come back with MORE bed bugs?! I only have one friend that lives within an hour of me that could come pick him up for a few days while I clean this mess up. Is he even going to be OK with the amount of exposure he's already had??

Keep a close eye on him. If you see anything that might be up with him take him to the vet. Can you hear his breathing.? If you can does it sound labored.?

He seems fine right now. He's eating and moving around normally. I'm concerned about the longterm effects, though

Understandable.. I don't have much knowledge about this unfortunately.. If you are really worried and someone with more experience doesn't come along you could always call the vet and ask about it.?

They are cute little things ! If there is anything else I can help with let me know !

I would check the ingredients on the product but if he's not sneezing you should be okay. I think it's the spray that is most dangerous to our pets.

No sneezing, but we went to a friends place for the night to be safe.

According to research and the great people of Reddit, the way it was applied willy nilly would have aerosolized the product. It's an irritant and there's instructions to call poison control, and not breathe it in, on the bottle.

She (landlady) is supposed to go in and clean my room today. Danzig will probably stay at my friends' place for a few days anyway, just to be safe...

You could always take him to the vet if you're worried. Make the landlord pay for the visit, since she insisted on dusting and said they were only doing your room. I don't know if what's in it will hurt him, but just like a human, it's very dangerous to inhale dust or powdery particles, and since there was so much, I'd be really worried. It could make his lungs sticky, and ultimately suffocate him.
