Question - do any of us actually have nice carpets?! XD I moved into an ex-rental a few years ago, and there's this battered, porridge-coloured carpet. I haven't changed it - and thank God for that - because my girls are a bunch of rug-munchers (hur-hur).

They've also had a go at the skirting board and couch.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced minor/major furniture wreckage?

no, I have never experienced that type of damage ……… although years ago Hannah decided to make an extra, smaller door through the wall into the bathroom ….. and she enlisted all of her friends to help

What I do to prevent damage in to cover the carpet with thick linoleum (large piece overlapping and sealed with duct tape), the linoleum goes up the wall a few inches to prevent any leakage of liquids, and I line the walls with over lapping coroplast panels to create a large safe play area. (attached with zip ties or stick on Velcro)

It is also important to put something such as coroplast behind the cage so you do not get pee on the walls, and something under the cage to protect the floor

I've got a strip of vinyl under the cage. They basically have their own room they can mess up if they want. For now, I'm sticking with the crap carpet.
