My girl is not doing good. I noticed she has been extra snuggly the last couple of days, with a lot of bruxing and boggling. She is usually the most active one, the biggest troublemaker, and doesn’t sit still for more than ten seconds. So this was the first strange sign.

Some other things I’ve noticed the last two days: her fur has been a little more puffy (she has a rexish coat)- especially around the face, bruxing very often, chewing on lava stones like crazy. I did notice she has been shaking her head a lot recently, didn’t see it today. The bruxing and chewing made me concerned that something was going on with her teeth but I don’t see anything wrong with them or around her mouth. I weighed her and she’s lost 30g in the last month.

She had a bit of porphyrin around one eye yesterday, same today but with both eyes- and a lot around one of them. She never has porphyrin. A couple of the other rats will often have a tiny bit after they wake up, she’s never been like that.

She was very clumsy tonight during playtime. Tumbling out of the hammock, flopping over.. just very very unlike her. She probably fell/stumbled more than ten times in the hour she was out. She also pooped just kinda out in the open on the bedroom floor- unusual. She was also drinking water very slowly. She just seems kinda out of it?

I’m calling my vet in the morning. Does any of this sound like PT? Or something else?

Here’s a few videos of her tonight:

A stumble:

Drinking water:

I’ve also been handing her treats and she doesn’t have an issue holding and eating them.

She’s not any better today. She been walking around the cage a lot, kinda aimlessly. I gave her some pumpkin seeds earlier and she held them but was just a bit clumsy about it. I have an appointment for her in 2.5 hrs.

Talking to your vet is a great plan. It could be as simple as an ear infection or losing sight, or something worse like PT. Your rattie seems happy though, so keep your hopes up. As far as lost weight, you can research the baby foods to supplement them with that work WONDERS.

The vet thinks it’s PT. She was prescribed 0.3ml of a 5mg/5ml solution of prednisone once a day. And 1/4 of 0.5 mg Cabergoline tablet. She weighs 300g. Does this dose sound good?

She’s definitely having more issues using her hands to eat today

I have a white mouse.. but she is not well before 3-4 days. She is sneezing so much continuously & because of that her nose is runny so much... So plz any one tell me what can I do because where I'm leaving Their is no facility of veterinarian for mouse..so any one plz tell me what can I do...for that ...or what food I give to her so that she can get well soon...

Does her Breathing sound weird if so she might have a respiratory infection I've only had mice with diarrhea and down syndrome but she could have a respiratory problem. What kind of bedding do you use?

Yeah a little bit means while breathing she makes sound of breathing & sneezing continuously..And I'm using soft blanket that take her warm in winter.
Today I take her to Government venitary hospital but they can't check up mouse. But the doctor give me an antibiotic tablet NICOFLOX .....can I give to her or not

That cabergoline dose looks low to me.

The recommended dosage is 0.6 mg/kg every 3 days
The dose you are giving is 0.13 mg and she's 300 grams
so 0.13 x 3.34 = .44 mg/kg.

Unfortunately because you are using 1/4 tablets it will be very difficult to fix this.

Tge prednisone dose is great. I have never used Cab before so I'll need to look it up.
Thank you. I tried to figure out the cab dose and I think it’s between 1/4 and 1/2 of a tablet. Not sure if which one I should go with..

Manishamani you need to start your own thread instead of hijacking this one. We will be happy to answer your questions once you do.
you do this first but also put her in a sterilized cage and no wood shavings if you use them

Ok I was thinking it was low.. So I’d need more like 1/3 of a tablet. I’m using a pill cutter, I’ll see if 1/3 is possible. Thank you for your help

Manishamani, that drug is Ofloxacin which I am not familiar with. You most likely can dose at 10 mg/kg like with enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin with rats.
We would need the concentration of the tablets 200 mg?) And the weight of your mouse.

She’s a little bit better than she was. Not as stumbly when walking, and hasn’t been bruxing as much. She doing ok with holding her food, although she’ll drop it and seem to forget what she’s doing, and sometimes keep both hands on the ground while eating to keep her balance. I have noticed her squeaking loudly sometimes when handled or when moving around in the hammock with the other rats. I palpated around and found that she squeaks when I touched a spot near her vagina. I don’t see anything unusual :/

Can any one plz tell me an antibiotic tablet for white mouse ...my mouse is sneezing continuously..I have her an antibiotic but it can't be helpful...she is sneezing yet also.....plz tell me an antibiotic tablet which can be helpful for her plz........

An update- Since starting medication she has done incredibly well. It took about a week and she was back to her normal self. She still wouldn’t eat her rat food so she’s been getting pretty much anything she’ll take- mostly peas and oatmeal, her favorites. Last week she was eating rat food, actually grabbing mouthfuls and running off with it, something I haven’t seen her do since she got sick. Suddenly last night she was stumbly and her head was tilted. This morning she’s having trouble even standing up.

Does Cabergoline just suddenly stop working? She’s getting another dose today, maybe it’s just a bad day..
