What can I do? (PT or what is this?)

Henry seems awful this morning. I heard him moving around when I woke up and checked on him. His eyes were goopy and he was having a really hard time getting around. I cleaned up his eyes and put him on my bed to change his blankets.

He just seems like he's really struggling. He still tries to groom himself and he's hungry, but he is just not himself. He hasn't been himself for a couple of weeks. It seems like he doesn't know where he is and he doesn't seem to recognize me. While I was observing him, his eyes teared up with this orange-ish guck.

I attached two pictures and got a video...

What do I do? The Cabergoline is supposed to come in this week. I've never had a rat this old before, so I don't know if this is typical of old age, of PT, if there's something else going on... Should I let him go?

This is how Henry used to be before all these symptoms came up. This is from about six months ago -
It hurts to see him deteriorate like this.

Just looking at your pics I totally see the floppiness of PT, so your suspicions were correct.

I know you were at the vets yesterday, how is he doing now that the meds may have kicked in a little farther?

He's less floppy and very hungry, which is good. He's doing his best to groom himself but I've had to start giving him cloth baths - he gets mush all over his arms and neck.

I'm calling the clinic today to check on the cab order. Been having a hell of a time trying to find bromo, but it's been a week and a half since Dr. Banerjee sent me the info on bromo and cab... I called in right after that email came in... They sent a check-in email on Saturday and I asked about the cab order and they never responded.... I'd really like to start treating the PT, not just the symptoms, and I'm starting to feel very put off by their lack of communication...

I treat with pred + an antibiotic (baytril) and also try cab to see if it will help as it only works with the most common type of pt.
I get the cab from a human pharmacy by prescription from my vet. Cab is used to treat people too.

He's been on pred and enrofloxacin for a week now with very little improvement :( He can eat on his own again, but he's still depressed, confused and has very limited mobility.

I finally got a hold of their technician who does the special orders for medications - cab is about twice the cost of bromo, at 30 days vs 75 days worth. I've decided to go with bromo and it should be in in two days.

She apologized to me about 15+ times over the phone for the miscommunication.

Sorry, Shelagh. Life has been crazy between this, work, personal projects, family drama...

I know you already know, but just to update the thread... Henry passed away tonight. He had been on bromo since Wednesday without much noticeable improvement. My heart hurts.

Sorry for your loss. My girl Zoe was PTS today over probably the same issue (PT). I know how you feel.
