So my husband found this little guy at a local pet store yesterday. He told me he was a blue. He went back today and got him. My husband's never had rats before so he obviously didn't know what he was looking at. Can anyone telling what the coloring is on this little guy?

It's the same with dogs and other animals, they're called "blue" but they're really a silver/grey.

I think maybe I wasn't clear enough with what I was asking. I wasn't expecting an actual blue rat lol. I have a purebread blue pitbull so I completely understand what they mean when they say "blue". What I meant was that he's not a blue rat. These are pics of blue rats.

He's has more of a silvered beige coloring. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what actual variation he is.

Not really sure... maybe a mink or cinnamon?
I was honestly leaning towards a cinnamon before I read your response. Oddly enough, my daughter named him Cinnamon the first day we got him. She ran into the room saying "Mom, he smells like cinnamon!". He actually had a slight hint of cinnamon to him lol.

Gorgeous either way. He deserves a friend ;)
He actually has 3 new friends as of yesterday. Only intended on adding 2 rats to the household but the rat fever was real lol. How can you pass up so much sweetness? This little one has already stole my heart!

He does look like a blue agouti (American blue being the blue), but since he's young he could be molting into his adult coat. Give him another month or so then post pics and we'll play the Colour Game again lol.
