I just got home from a 2 week vacation. My mom has been taking care of my 3 girls at home. I noticed Louise has these two odd scabs on her back. I can’t tell if she just got in a scuffle with her sister or there is something else wrong. None of the other girls have anything like it on them. I quarantined her in the cleaning cage for now. ( sorry if the picture is blurry, I had to squish her down to get the camera to focus :p )

Usually when rats have scabs around their head or shoulders, they have mites.
Mites are invisible, and in the environment - if you buy paper based or wood bedding, after purchase it is important to freeze it for 48 hours to kill any parasities that may be in it.

I would suggest that you treat all of your rats with kitten Revolution or Selamectin.
You buy it from a vet and the amount placed on the back of the rat's neck is based on your rat's weight.

I hope this helps

I’m not too sure if it’s mites. None of them are itchy or are showing any symptoms other than Louise’s lesion on her back
