Hello all!

Not my first post here, but I’ve become addicted to this forum and appreciate all the help I’ve received, so I wanted to share my babies! (Excuse the quality of some of these pictures, I’m sure you all now how hard it is for rats to sit still!)

First off, the boys:

This is Bambi, my laziest boy. If he’s not sleeping, he’s hoarding food in his favorite little wooden hut. He can’t be bothered to play with any of the toys/other rats in his cage and would much rather be munching. During free play he prefers to burrow in my shirt and take a nap. He’s by far my friendliest boy. His favorite treat is baby applesauce.

This is Lucifer (I know, not the nicest name, but he took a chunk out of my finger the first day I took him home), one of the set of brothers I have. He’s very feisty and curious. He is the top boss of the cage. I jokingly call him my “little sewer rat” because he is huge. Despite working with him every day for six months, he’s still pretty wary of humans and doesn’t know how he feels about me. He’ll eat out of my hand but scooping him up or getting him into a “transport tube” is a no go! I hope in the future to get him comfortable enough to snuggle with me because he’s so darn cute! His favorite treat is snap pea crisps.

This is Klaus, my shyest boy. He takes after his brother of not being very trusting, and spends most of his time in his little hammock. You can tell he wants to be brave, but his past has made him weary. He will too eat out of my hand, but during free play prefers to stay in his travel carrier. As with his brother, I hope to encourage him to trust me and will give him all the time he needs! His favorite snack is almonds.

It’s definitely been a process with these boys. They didn’t have the best upbringing before I got them so they were very human scared/‘aggressive’. They were terrified of every movement and sound, and would bite whenever your hand was near. With daily work, they are now eating baby food out of my hand and coming up to the cage doors to greet me. While the brothers aren’t keen on being held/cuddled, I hope by giving them time and space (I.e not forcing them into uncomfortable situations) they’ll learn to trust me.

And now, the girls:

This is Luna, my most outgoing rat. The first day I brought her home she was already climbing up on me and trying to nest in my hair. She’s very sweet, and loves riding on my shoulder around the house. She loves building nests and running around her cage. Her favorite snack is sweet potato baby food.

This is little Raven, my laziest of the girls. She’d much rather build nests and sleep then play or chew. She does have random spurts where she is obsessed with running on her wheel, but those times are few and far between. She also will occasionally wrestle with my hands but that will only last a couple minutes before she’s back to bed. She is my boss girl and she runs the show. Her favorite snack is chicken baby food.

And lastly this is.... well, I haven’t decided yet! As some of you may know from my first post on here, I had a terrible accident happen in my critter nation with one of my girls, Peaches. After losing her, I was torn as wether to leave the girls as a pair or get a third rat. I’ve always been keen on the idea of have threes of social animals, so I figured I would get a third girl while they were young and easier to introduce. Luckily, I was able to pick up another girl from the same litter my original girls came from. Introductions went very well, and she’s now very close with the other girls, especially Raven. She’s very playful and very sassy, she will snuggle with you like crazy but if you touch her when she doesn’t want to be touched she squeaks like a mad lady. She loves to wrestle and play with Luna, and loves to go on her wheel. Her favorite treat is also sweet potato baby food. If you have any name suggestions for this little lady, please let me know! For some reason everything I think of just doesn’t seem to stick.

And those are all my rats! All very different in terms of their personality, and all adorable little fur balls :)

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for listening to be gush about my rats. No one I know in person is a big fan of them, so I have all this pent up rat love that I can’t get out anywhere else! And thank you to everyone who has helped me or sent kind words in my previous posts. I love this forum and I hope to chat with all of you sometime or another!

Thanks again!

Aww what sweet little guys you have!
My name suggestions for your new little girl would be:
-Lucky (because you said you were lucky to be able to get her)
-Winnifred/Winnie (they seem like cute, gothic type names to go with Luna and Raven), or maybe something like Star, Sunny, Sparrow, or Sky for a sky theme.
Good luck choosing a name! I know how difficult it can be.
