My girl Musya is about 2 years old suddenly stopped using litter pan for toilet needs. It started about 6 month ago. Every morning and evening (after rats wake up) I see "olive seeds" all over the cage floor. I started to change bedding paper more often (3-4 days instead week), it did not help. Every time, if I am at the cage, I try to put Musya on the grill of litter pan, but again she does her poop job on the floor.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

You might want to remove the grill on your litter pan, as people do not usually use them with rats.

Is Musya slowing down at all?
Is she able to get into the litter pan?
Have you noticed any other changes in her behaviour, no matter how small?
Can you post videos of her walking etc? (post a video to someplace like yahoo and then post the link on here

Hi Jeff (and Musya!)

(Please take the grate off the potty as rats can easily get their paws and tails stuck in it.)

I had the same problem with one of my elder boys.

Have you tried using a different litter for it? After swapping to hemp toilet filler my oldest boy started to use the pan again.

It can also be to do with her internals like bowel issues and she just isn’t able to hold it in.

Maybe the pan is too high for her? If she struggles to get to top floors maybe try putting it somewhere nearer the bottom of the cage?

Musya is not slowing down. She is very active and I can say she is most active among my four girls. She always jump into pan when I change bedding paper and when she wants to hide treats.
