One of boys let out a couple of loud shreeks earlier when some of the others got close to him, and when I was petting him. I narrowed the source down to the very base of his tail. He squeaks when it is touched or moved and he is holding it more to the side than straight behind him, if that makes sense. I'll be taking him to the vet but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I have some children's Motrin, should I give it to him in the mean time? Thanks!

He weighs around 420, I ended up giving him .42ml of the children's Motrin. Although I saw that infant Motrin was recommended in some previous threads since it's more concentrated, but luckily he likes the taste so giving that much was no problem. Poor guy, he was so happy and playful the night before :/

He is still squeaking when his tail is moved.. I keep finding him buried under several other rats so whenever he tries to get out, or the other crawl over him, he squeaks. But he's still eating, grooming, somewhat active.. he is moving a little slower and carefully. He loves the ibu and it does perk him up a bit.

So after a couple days of pains meds he is alll better and his tail looks good :)
