I need to know urgently. A couple of their rats are being dumped off. They said marble russian blue, but it looks R.Siver to me. Unfortunately Im into the horse scene, and the only Canadian rat name I know is Atlantis. Please help, so I can get these babies sorted and back where they belong.

The marbles were a new highly sought after colour/pattern but once the breeders git them (from feeder bin at pet store) they found serious issues, with birth and aggression in a lot of the animals, so the marbles are being dumped.

i think its Georgian Bay, as they responded. Thank god i found them before someone in Toronto got hold of them and bred them. Russian Silver and marble would totally take off here due to the stunning looks and sweet temperament they bred into them. Here are the lovelies

Really? Neither of those are marble though. Atleast the first doesn't look it from the pic and the second is an agouti. I didn't know georgian bay bred agoutis :/

If you were talking to the adopter why didn't they just tell you where the rats came from?

Marbles did come here but then the crappy breeders decided to cross it with everything so most don't look marble anymore...really not sure what the point was. Marbles came from a feeder bin at a petstore not that long ago and became the new craze. Everyone wanted them and they were bought and imported by a lot of people. THEN it was discovered they have birthing issues and temperament issues so they have fallen out of favour a lot and some breeders are dumping their stock. That rat *might* have marble in it but looks mink/blue and the other is definitely an agouti.

All good possibilities. But a moot point now, as they took responsibility for the rats .

I hope someone would do the same for me if a distant adoptor tried to dump one of my rehomes rather than drive the distance to return them, or too embarrassed to contact me to pick them up. I hope somebody would not be devious enough to pick up the rat and hold him up as some kind of trophy in some kind of imagined war between rescues and breeders.

Although in the past Ive had rescue-crazed roommates steal my rats after a falling out, so please understand if I dont take sides here and just get the job done. Thanks all for the amazing help to get these rats back on track.
