In a month or so I am going to be adding 2 new baby ratties to my family! These will be my 4th and 5th rats and the first ones I will be getting since moving out of the horrible rat-free Province.

I have a cage that I am going to need to most likely partially cover with wire mesh so I don't have escapes while babies are wee.

But, I want to know what all of you think are things that I MUST have in my cage to spoil my new future babies! I will be attempting to find a good hammock supplier, as the lady I used to purchase them from I don't know if she still sells them sadly.

So excited to be getting rats again :D

It must be such a relief to be back in the rest of Canada! Alberto's paranoia seems ridiculous.

Your new ratties will be easy to please. Places to hide, stuff to chew, and lots to do will keep them content. Sometimes they like cardboard boxes just as much as igloos and other purchased shelters. Snak Shak logs are always a hit. A Silent Spinner wheel will keep them in good shape. I always provide several water sources (bottles and dishes).

Thanks! I am definitely so happy to be out of that Province and back home, lol.
Do they sell the silent spinner wheels at pet stores or will I have to order one online? Trying to plan all of my purchases, ha.

I found a pet store that has wheels that don't have holes/gaps which seem big enough, which is awesome!
The food I can purchase from the local rat rescue I believe. I think they sell Oxbow or similar. :)

With babies, you are probably going to be their best toy. :) But a fun cage, I'd say platforms for climbing on, toilet roll tubes, shredded paper, hanging toys. But for necessities, I'd say exactly the same as the big rats' cage.
