And today I got a surprise. ..another nakie....only this one is in piggie form!
My exs coworkers gf had a breeding trio of skinnies and was getting rid of them due to a new baby. This little lady was left behind. She's 10 months old and sooo cuuute. I'm in love.
We call her Thatyl...Thatyl-Do-Pig....ya my ex is hilarious!
She's a bit boney...and the C&C cage she came with is a disastrous mess. She can't decide what she wants to eat first.
She didn't come with any food or bedding or anything. Just a dirty C&C cage, dirty bowl and water bottle (both of which I'm just throwing out...eww) the C&C just needs a new base pan which was just chloroplast and duct tape! I am already looking for a friend for her but for now we'll give her lots of play time and love and good food. I feed the degus Oxbow Guinea Pig food so I've already got her on that. I offered her an alfalfa block, fresh oxbow timothy hay and a carrot...She's taking turns with everything. Haha. She seems to have a hard time with the pellets though so wil have to keep an eye on that.

She's pretty skittish just yet but here's a few sneak peek pictures.
Best one I got...she got brave

She's a skinny pig which is like a double rex guinea pig. They still have a bit of curly coarse hair on their face. The rest of them is naked. They still need cautious care with bedding and can get scratched easily.
I am going to continue to watch her for pregnancy as she did have a male friend up but a few weeks ago. I have to verify the gestation period for her.

Also convinced a name change...her name is Booty...haha...because she has a perfect mark circling her bum. And its cute to call her Booty-Girl. She sings to the rats when they are on the floor. She is in love with the degus. They were instant buddies. We may see if they would live together. They have the samr dietary needs, social behaviour and all, don't see why they couldn't. She moved herself into their cage for a bit during play time today. She loves her new buddies.

Miss Booty is on pregnancy watch 100% finally shook it out of her previous owner that she was with a male a week before. Her excuse for not telling me?? "She wasn't in heat so she likely didn't get pregnant"...right so....that's an educated BYB right there! NOT! Like saying a human woman wasn't ovulating that day so she can't get pregnant...can still happen any moment! She's got a fantastic appetite and is now upgraded from licking hands in her cage to couch time. She thrives on time with the Degus. Winnie gives her kisses and pops around with her. Ita great for now while we're waiting on pregnancy news that we don't have to rush for a buddy!

I am on a GP forum. I know I have til the end of January before we could see babies. At least unlike rats her likely litter size is 1-3 average. She has not been bred before and I know she's a bit old for it. Thats why I took her so she wouldn't be bred and from my understanding when I got her was she had never bred. But I guess they don't count playdates with a male unless she was in heat (dummies).
This girl also told me she could give me the name of the person who has her male now in case I wanted to breed her before she got too old...I'm like...how late have you bred them if you don't already think she's too old!?

I got an update from Marnie, Duke and Yumyums new mommy. She is spoiling them rotten and I love to see the updates.

Posted pictures in the random picture thread. But here are a few still.

I'm excited to announce I have officially reopened our doors. Though I never stopped helping those in need. Just slowed down and went through an adjustment period. Did some redecorating and replanning in the rat room.
We welcomed a skinny pig "Booty-Girl", 2 girl rats from an abandoned apartment, and 2 baby boy mice.
Tomorrow I take in a 6 month old albino smooth hair guinea pig. Who will be introduced to Booty-Girl and keep her company as long as all goes smoothly. I pick her up in Grand Bend tomorrow afternoon :)
I have kept my eyes on kijiji and the SPCA and rat activity has slowed down to a near stand still (good news) I have worked with the SPCA and seems we have caught up with most of the suppliers and breeders that got out of hand.
I just had to "sternly" educate a young man on the dangers of feeder breeding and to stick to frozen feeding! He wanted one male and one female from me, as he didn't think his snakes should just survive on frozen feeding, and it was expensive. Was honest at least in his intentions. I was very honest in my information. Told him raising rats wasn't the answer. Between cages, food, bedding, a vet in case of emergency that he was going to be spending much more to keep live rats. If he wasn't willing to properly provide for them then, he wasn't wanting to do what was healthiest for his snakes and I would just end up with all his cast offs. Any way I rant and digress haha

I'm loving being open. Loving my new job and in a good place!
Love this family you guys were so supportive through my rough times and are amazing people!

That is great to hear Sterling, congrats!! :)

(and I am so proud of you for trying to educate Mr. Snake Dude)
You rock!

Today I picked up a pair of HUGE rexi boys that were found at a chem lab in town. Not got much info all I know is that they are lovely, sweet BIIIG boys. They need fitting names. Thinking the big brown boy will be Jenkins but the PEW needs a name that suits his cuddly laid back hunky personality. He immediately snuggled into my neck and started bruxxing and vibrating happily! I cannot even wrap my head around them being left out in this weather. They have clear sign of lice, they were on pine and cedar mix bedding :s in a box with a giant bowl of food that was nearly empty so they must have been there for a few days I'm guessing.
I'm in love with the white boy already, we're best buddies :)
And now of course pictures.

'Jenkins'

They looove snuggles and kisses and they love their noses scratched. They had a bath today as they stink and have buggies so a babypowder scent parasite bath was needed. Now they smell lovely and I'm sure their skin feels better!!

These boys have made themselves right at home. Big ole couch potatoes. The white boy is now called Podge as he's so chunky it just stuck! So Jenkins and Podge it is. They were obliviously well fed and cared for at some point as they love human interaction. They love to groom fingers. Not so much a fan of human face being close but I cannot help wanting to kiss those chubby faces so they will get used to it fast haha!
They both have similar personalities but Jenkins was the bit braver of the two...at first...now Podge is the explorer. Jenkins finds a warm spot and passes out while Podge explores longer. Every now and then I feel his looong funny whiskers touch me and he gets a good scratching which he loves. He's got the funniest whiskers for a rex. They stick so straight up (the top whisker on either side of his nose) and the rest are super long and just curved. Not all curly like you might expect from a rex.

I haven't updated on this thread in a long time.
Today we had a very productive cleaning and intro day. At the beginning of the day I had 7 active rat cages, and now we are at 5 active cages. Krieger and Porter who lost Doyle were introd quickly and with minimal issue to Yoshi and Wally who recently lost their friends Ollie and U.B. (Houdini). There was one big scuffle between Yoshi and Krieger to which Wally stepped in and defended his nakie "brother". So Yoshi got a time out and got to try again after a half hour and he was the picture of sweetness!
Baby Neo and Ashur were introduced to Danzig, Batman and Kanunu which was so entertaining. They are so used to being just with the siblings that they aren't too sure of other rats. Which I want to rectify so they are more highly adoptable.
Jenkins and Podge go home end of this week! :) their new forever home is super excited to get them. Its such a happy ending to these boys lives. They super deserve a forever home where they can just soak up love all day long!! I try but with nearly 20 rats plus the other critters its hard to give them enough time. I'm also giving lots of attention to Boots as he seems a bit depressed since Tyrion passed. He finally started sleeping in his basket again, after a week + in the bed I put in there for Tyrion.
Everyone else got a good cleaning and a special treat today :)
Now just have to make a batch of snack blocks and one more load of laundry and it will be done. I needed to make a change in that room as the empty cages were breaking my heart.

The other night I left Odin and Boots' door open (by accident) and in the morning they were both still snuggled up in their cuddler bed looking all innocent. I will never know if they got up to any mischief! Haha
Boots is going bald. I don't think its just Odin barbering him anymore I believe its stress related due to Tyrion's passing.
He also had a lump on his throat/chin that we will get checked tomorrow at the vet. That vet must love me lately. I must be single handedly paying his mortgage!
