Flux definitely has mites/live and has started showing scabs and I saw one of the tiny bugs in his fur. However I don't know if you can get revolution over the counter or if you have to go to a vet. If I have to go to a vet, could be a problem because my vet will I insist on seeing the animal I am dosing and he only treats cats and dogs.

Advice on this part would be helpful please. Wanna get rid of those hateful bugs on my buddy

The vet that I go to has the cheapest meds and usually gives me coupons to make it even cheaper. He is really good to his patients and their owners. I just didn't know if I had to have a prescription for it or not

The vet can give it to you, but as you said he might insist on an exam first. Just make sure he WILL give it to you first, before setting up the exam.

Some vets will just sell it to you.

Okay, I know there is a link about revolution and dosing and what type to get, but I am only on a smartphone which makes it a little more difficult on getting through some things. Would someone be able to link it here for me before I go asking my vet for some? I have to call him for some more flea meds for my kitty anyway

That would work for me. I am going to treat all 4 boys because we just switched cages and while I cleaned, it is probable that they got some too. Thank you for the link :) will check it out

Some people on some Facebook groups recommended something called ivermectin? Has anyone used this? Apparently I can get it from tractor supply and I can't seem to get my hands on revolution without a vet visit which I cannot pay for for at least another month right now

You can use that, but its very toxic so you have to be careful. You will need to give three doses, one every 30 days (I think) and do a complete cage clean each time.

3 doses, once every 7 days
It is very tricky and you have to be veeeeeeery careful.
The dose is .01 ml for a one pound or larger rat, and .005 for a rat under a pound. That is the size of an uncooked grain of rice and half the size of an uncooked grain of rice, respectively.

My vet does the ivermectin injections once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks and honestly I can say it wasn't very affective in relieving the symptoms for very long...The oral stuff I used a long time ago on one of my boys but can't remember the exact dosage so you will definitely have to do some looking into that to make sure.

If your vet is using ivermection injections he's either behind the times and uninformed or is dishonest and profiting from your naivete. In addition to costing more I seem to recall in the past that lots of people had issues with infections and other problems at the injection site. Insist on a treatment using Revolution and if the vet won't agree to it, find another vet.
