Ok so I have been updating the girls old owner (Honey and Tater) as she requested when she gave me the girls. Now that TT is in her forever home and her new momma has fallen head over heels for her might I add, she is wanting to know if she can have Honey back. This threw up some red flags for me because for one the reason she got rid of them was because he father who happens to be her landlord said she has to many rats and made her give some up and for two the fact that she never took Honey to the vet in the 5-6 months that she had her despite her obvious issues with her eyes. The is just the top two and there are a few others.Honey is going back to the vet tomorrow for her congestion and have her eyes looked over again.I am thinking I should let her live the rest of her days out here with us since she has slowed down alot lately though she was slow to begin with but she doesn't even run in her wheel anymore. She takes a few steps and then naps in it haha but that could be because she is sick and just not feeling well but I guess we will find out tomorrow what is going on with her. What does everyone else think?

Her previous owner sounds very shady. I agree with Godmother, you should keep her with you. It sounds like you know that too. And you are absolutely right, she should spend the last of her time with you.

I would be honest and tell her she needs medical care and would be better off staying with you. I also don't like when sick or old rats are rehomed so going back and fourth would be stressful, you can try to convince her with that.

I agree with everyone else. She does seem skeptical and it kind of feels like Honey needs you. Plus as Minnie said I don't like to see old/sick ratties having to be rehomed unless there is a very good reason.

Treat it as an adoption case. ..if you didn't get her from there to begin with but have a character witness (yourself) that knows a few red flag facts about her.
1) she won't spend money on vet care
2) I would treat as a previous offender, you made a committment to them, let it go and now that she's had vet care you want her back...umm no!
3) There's an adoption fee (would take into account her vet bills) you surrendered now she is having to go through the same (if jot more rigorous) steps as anyone else.
