Flying Squirrel at my bird feeder

Tonight I went to take in the bird feeders for the night (otherwise bears destroy them), and I saw a little critter leap off the suet/peanut butter feeder. It sat up on a tree branch and watched me.

I felt like such a meanie! I would gladly feed those little sweeties, but we can't risk attracting bears. I put a few bits of suet/pb on top of the pole, and I scattered some sunflower seeds on the ground.

Flying squirrels are such beautiful little creatures, and I have not seen one for a couple of years.

Aww congrats! Maybe give him a little on the branch you saw him sitting on every night.

They are sweet for sure. He will come back in the morning...they are very good at figuring out "meal" time....

That's good news! I will also put a little on the tree bark this evening.
