I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who put up with me on my recent trip to Canada. The first victim of my trip was Hopefloats. I had a wonderful time visiting with her, her daughter Kait and all the furbutts.
After leaving Hopefloats place I ventured into unknown territory known as the Pennsylvania turnpike all $15 worth. I spent close to $100 on turnpike fees alone on this trip. Then I traveled to the wonderful state of New York to Buffalo and the border crossing. Only one car in front of me and not an issue getting across. ( I didn't tell them about Simon). Then it was on the Shelagh's with what was suppose to be my birthday celebration ( oh yeah it was my birthday and the reason for the trip), but sadly things did not go well on my first day in Canada. Hugs to Shelagh for not kicking me out.
Moon came to spend the evening with us. It was great seeing her again just wish it had been under better circumstances.
On Saturday we made the FTC run, Niagra Falls (my first time of seeing the falls) and a rattie rescue.
Sunday up very early to make the trek to Jorats family with the 9 furbutts. It was so wonderful meeting morats and mamarat. These two are very special and wonderful people and have done an amazing job of raising 2 equally wonderful daughters. I cleaned Nic out of hammocks. :cheeky: as some were gifts down the road. After leaving Garson we met up with LA and the ever lovable Miss E. She is such a cutie and she loved Sparky, but then everyone loves Sparky. :cheeky:
After getting the Midland boys we ventured back to Toronto. Monday was the FTC run again to pick up the pans I bought for my cages. Tuesday was a shop around Toronto day. We did grocery shopping and that evening I met crumbalina and we were suppose to eat at home but the food just wasn't cooking fast enough so we went to Harvey's instead. Wednesday I was left to my own to do what I wanted. So I did laundry, cooked and cleaned. Thursday I loaded up and headed out to meet with victoria and her family. I left Montreal somewhere around 9ish and after gps failing me I finally headed in what I hoped was the right direction. I wanted to drive a couple hours before finding a motel for the night. Saw a sign that showed a sleeping person exited and that was my mistake. I drove around for well over an hour lost, nothing was open and I never found the motel. I finally found the highway and started my journey again and drove to a truck pull off area to try and sleep for a couple hours. Started out again and around 9 am I must have closed my eyes for a few seconds and the next thing I remember was bouncing off the guard rails. Needless to say I was wide awake after that. The dogs never even seemed to notice go figure.
So I drove and drove through New Brunswick and drove some more. That a big area to drive through, but very beautiful. I meet up with kimber at the Welcome center for Nova Scotia. Her parents were awesome and opened up their home to me and all the fur kids. I met the adorable Whiskey and fell in love with her. On Saturday we meet up for the Maritimers get together. I meet godmother, sq, Joanne, Angie and Lindsay for the first time. It was great meeting them and finally able to put faces with the names btw Joanne makes the best hummus. On Sunday I was treated to homemade waffles. They were wonderful. I loaded up my car said my goodbyes and started the trek to Virgina to meet up with Arlene. I got to the border not knowing what to expect with the rats with me. I had to go inside while the border patrol looked up whether I could bring them with me or not, not sure what they found, but they asked if they could see them and I said yes. I pulled out the 2 girls and promptly gave both of them kisses. The border patrol let me go and onward I went. I spent the night in Maine and left the next morning for the drive through New York and Baltimore and DC. I dang near threw the gps out of the window during the drive in New York City. I am pretty sure having to drive through Manhattan is not the short way and then having to cross the George Washington bridge was not my ideal of fun. Finally made it through New York and onto the New Jersey Turnpike. I finally spent the night in New Jersey at a motel with bad plumbing. So I finally made it to Arlene's on Tuesday and spent the night. I left for the final leg of my trip on Wednesday afternoon. I made it as far as Lexington, Ky before I stopped. I finally managed to pull into my driveway after driving 5,468 miles around 3pm on Thursday and was glad to be home.
So once again thanks to everyone.

Wow! What a crazy trip! It was great meeting you, and I'm glad your trip was mostly safe, if not annoying for all the extra driving the GPS got you in to. You'll have to do a tally of all the rats- where they started and where they ended up.

I only brought Simon with me, from Kansas to Nova Scotia. The six I brought back with me, I know Bloo now called Joshua was one of the RTR boys. Not sure where the other 5 came from Shelagh will have to fill in for me on that. Simon alone traveled approximately 2,379 miles.

raindrop: I was gone from the 8th to the 23rd,

It was wonderful seeing you again Tanis, and what a special visit it was having you here with Shelagh.
How very scary that you were so tired as to hit the guard rails. I shudder to think what could have happened. We can't lose our eagle!!
I envy you so much for doing this trip of a life time... it's a dream for me to finally get to the maritime for a visit.
But it sure must feel good to be home again...

Yeah there was a 90 min delay so I chose to take the so called faster route. Never listen to gps when it says do you want to take the faster route. :gaah:
