Cecily Sept/Oct 2008- Dec 2010

Went up to give the rats a lunchtime snack, and knew right away that something was wrong. Cecily was gone.

Cecily had been feeling her age the last couple months, losing weight and generally slowing down but there was no clear indication that her time was coming... though I had a feeling it wouldn't be much later than the early new year.

My sweet, pretty girl who could put up with a lot but did draw the line eventually, though she was very fair with her cagemates and stepped down from her alpha position permanently some time ago. She withdrew from me toward the end, but not in any terrible way... she wanted time with her sister and cagemates more so than she wanted time with me, though I still got in lots of belly kisses. Once she was in a hammock there was no getting her out unless she wanted to.

The Dance
