Miss Piggler was one of our "original three" girls that we got back in the first week of October. They were about 6 weeks old at the time. She was a beautiful Rex with a velveteen/wavy coat. She was the first one we were able to name because she loved to eat... a "piggy nibbler" :giggle: ; although, later on we think Miss Skrat would've suited also because she was the crazy one of the bunch. Always zipping around and climbing most anything she could. She was amazing to watch!
She climbed my son's lamp post that is no more than 1 1/2 inches in diameter... straight up its smooth edge, like nothing! Then she would patiently wait and stare at hubby or I until we came to get her, let her down and she'd do it all over again... we were her "down escalator". :laugh4:
I'm trying to pick a few pics. to put up and just can't choose so am posting most of them. It's really all we have of her...
Miss Piggler, you rocked!!!

When the trio first arrived... top to bottom: Miss Skrat, Harriet and Miss Piggler (her face was always rounder than the other two; she was the biggest of the 3)

Me holding her up to see her belly... neat to see the wave on her underside. {Oh the indignity, eh!?! :giggle: }

Beautiful girl snuggling in a hat with her sisters...

Look at those eyes... Awww, I miss her foolish self. She seemed more wild than her sisters, but she was really warming up to me, and she just loved our son. Gave him kisses on his ears all the time! :D

Thanks all! :hugs:

smilez_n_hugs: I don't mind; however, part of the reason her memorial wasn't put up right away is because it was hard to talk about at first.... and, I was kind of unsure of how folks would react on here.
It was an extremely unfortunate accident. I was cleaning their cage and letting them free roam in our son's room at the time. I was always so careful... (more so now!) I moved slowly, always checking where they were... I was on my knees and went slowly back done to set on my heels...not slowly enough, and Miss Piggler was fast. I could've sworn I had just seen her on the other side of the room. She must've been standing under me because there was no warning for me at all...
I burst into tears. I was simply beside myself wailing... then, I had to compose myself. I had to be at my son's school in 15 mins. to pick him up for a docs. appt.
Heartbreaking is putting it mildly.
My hubby finally came to love our ratties because the night just previous, he had "hung out" with Miss Piggler and the girls. Miss Piggler's "antics" in particular endeared him. She ran up the lamp, then would look at him and wait for him to bring her down and she'd run up again, and...
I am glad it was me who had the unfortunate accident though, and not our 7 year old son.
Anyway... I learned a hard hard lesson...
Now we have 3 new ratties though, and I wouldn't want to change that either.
Miss Piggler was definitely one-of-a-kind... excuse me while I tear up. I really do miss her...

I'm so sorry. I myself lost an old pet in a similar accident. You just have to remember how great a life you gave them, so many animals aren't as lucky. The people on this forum always do such a wonderful job, and you are clearly no exception

Rest in Peace, Gorgeous Miss Piggler. (That's a really fantastic name!)

Thank you, LadyGray! And everyone!

I think Miss Piggler is a fantastic name too! Hubby opened up a Rat Shack account a few days ago...under the name "Mr. Piggler" :giggle: Nice of him to keep her memory alive. I'm sure we'll have a Miss Piggler II some day... :D

I just read this... I'm so sorry, such a tragic accident but an accident nonetheless. A few of us have had these unfortunate incidents that send us into a state of guilt and sorrow. ((hugs))

I'm sorry for the loss of your poor wee girl, but accidents do happen, especially with our rats who get into everything.
