My dearest Dewy. I'm so sorry.
I can't help but feel partially responsible for your quick decline in health after your brother's death. Indeed, less than two months after Dexter's death you have joined him at the bridge. I'm sorry I couldn't provide you with a friend to fill the void left by Dexter, or fill it myself. I'm sorry you couldn't see Christmas this year. I'ts too bad the ground is frozen solid and you can't be laid beside your brother, but I know you two will ham it up at the bridge.

I'm not sure what happened with Dewy. I think he just gave up after his brother died. He went downhill so very quickly. I think embodied what it means to die of heartbreak. He just felt it wasn't worth living without him. I really tried to provide him with lots of out time and attention, but I just couldn't replace Dexter.
It's sad at this time of year to have to put my pet to sleep, but I really felt that it was him time. I didn't want to see him suffer anymore.
So i'm back to being ratless. I don't like it.

Rest easy little boy.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( But next time you will know to get a friend for your lone rattie. I'm sure Dew loved all the attention you were giving him, but missed his brother so much. They are together now, and your heart just got bigger. ((HUGS))

I'm sorry for your loss :( Sometimes even with new cagemates, a loss of a rat in a closely bonded pair is just too stressful for the survivor.
