I got Alfie and four other rats from a lady who was moving to another state and could not keep them. Alfie was the last surviving of them. He was a goofy boy, always bouncing around and tackling others. He was kissy and a big smoosh. I would always give him kisses and he would just sit there and let me. He had been through a lot of cagemates, but towards the end he was with my two hairless boys. They loved cuddling up to him. He had the funniest dumbo ears, they had a point at the end of them thus the name Alfe (because he reminded me of an elf).
He started losing his back mobility which was to be expected for his age, but as soon as that started, he just rapidly went downhill. His breathing got worse and he started to reject food. I knew his time was coming, and when I went to check on him, he was gone.
Goodbye my squishman, all o us will miss you.
