So at the ripe age of 32 months, my boy Gunther passed. I loved that boy so much, and I miss him dearly. But my concern now is Harvey. I am not sure what to do, I hate the idea of him living out his remaining time alone. Harvey will be 2 in December, but he is very alert and not showing any signs of slowing down and he has never been much of a people rat, more a rat, rat. I was thinking if I could find an older female around his age I may consider getting him a companion...If I can't find another rat that fits that description, Harvey will have to remain alone....

That's always a concern when you are down to two rats... what to do if they are alone. Can you foster a buddy for him? Any rescues in your neck of the woods?

Sorry to hear about Gunther. I would definitely get Harvey a companion. There must be a rat out there for him. Is he neutered? If so, another option would be a couple of younger rats. That way they can entertain each other but still keep Harvey company.

No younger rats for me. I think I am going to take a break from rats for a bit after Harvey passes, so getting two more babies is not something I am looking to do.

Harvey is from MRR (Mainely Rat Rescue)...I guess I could contact them about possibly fostering.

Harvey is neutered so babies are not an issue, and I don't think Harvey would like another male. It took him a really long time to get used to Casper and Ty when they came back.

I am sure they have a nice quiet older female you could foster for them :)
