Brian and I have been looking to add another set of paws to the family, and earlier this week...we did! Meet Blue:

The shelter picked him up as a stray, and we were told that he is a year old (obviously by their estimation) however I would say there's no chance he's over 8 months.
He must've been someones dog at some point, as he rides well in the car, can sit and shake a paw and is completely crate trained :D so we're just working away on manners and other basic things like that (pulling, jumping, mouthing just a bit when he gets SUPER excited) and then introducing Boo Boo to the cat (Poor Hawkeye is a little spooked, we keep Blue on leash as to restrict chasing, and he doesn't seem to have intense focus on him, so I think once the novelty wears off we'll be all good :D) and Hawk isnt THAT spooked, he'll still sleep in the same room as him at night so I'm sure we'll get there...
This summer my work schedule is a little wacky, but we plan to go places with this guy! With his keen attention and drive I hope he takes to some sort of dogsport (Agility? Disc dog? Flyball? Dock Diving? Rally? Herding maybe???) and then Radar can tag along and not be "pushed" by my desire to have a dog that I can compete with (as Ray has hip-dysplasia, so I know we need to try and take it lower impact with him).

Right now he is sleeping on the dog bed after going for a walk with my friend, we went down to the clinic and got some nummy cookies and met some new people - trying to ramp up the socialization to new things and he seems to be doing well :D

He's settling in well and him and Radar are getting more comfortable:

Yay, there's my handsome doofus! Congrats!!!!

You should do Rally-O with Radar, and list him as special needs to limit the jump heights and stuff.

Oh my, that might make things difficult!

Oh wow, he is stunning!! And he sounds like he's fitting in alright (who likes cats anyway... LMAO!). More pictures I say!

Did you get him at the GHS? He looks sorta familiar (then again after being in shelters for over five years, all sheps start to blend together).

Either way congRATs and if you ever need a petsitter :stickpoke:

Yup he's from GHS

Annnnd this morning Hawkeye came down to be fed brekkie and stayed down for about an hour after (instead of running upstairs!) I took Blue out of his crate and had him on lead (so he couldnt chase Hawk) and I could continually divert his attention AND eventually he sat down and chewed on his bone! *happy dance*

Things seem to be coming along nicely!

Congratulations on the new puppy doggie, and congratulations on the new family Blue!

Front paws on a small stool makes them realize their bum works all by itself.
