Hey yall! I'm not really a fan of giving pets as gifts, but apparently my family doesnt feel the same lol! I was surprised today with a hairless rat from a pet store. I've never had one before and I am doing some research to see if they need special care, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions from their personal experience!
She may also be pregnant, which is another thing I have no experience with. I think she's pretty young - she is small and was at the store for a week in a cage with 3 unneutered males. She is very skittish but seems to be doing ok. I've already set her up in a cage with a few toys from my other rats, and within smelling distance of them. I plan to get her checked at a vet soon (I definitely dont trust a pet store that keeps all their rats together like that). If she does seem pregnant, I think the plan is to reach out to a local breeder for some help or advice, since I dont really have the ability or time to be raising little ratties!
