Hi All,

I am here looking for some advice regarding quarantine & URI's. I adopted 4 new baby girls at the end of March, & within a week my sweet baby came down with a URI. Congested breathing, wheezing, sneezing. I took her immediately to the ER & got her treated. She was on Doxy & Sulfameth-Trimeth for 21 days and appeared to have a full recovery. I waited another week with no symptoms to start introducing her back to her sisters & my older girls (rescued feeders, aprox. 16 months old). Two days ago I noticed my previously sick baby having more sneezes than normal but otherwise completely normal behavior. No wheezing or lethargy. I ended up making an appointment for Tuesday (it is now Friday) to get her and her sister checked out. I have noticed my other girls occasionally sneezing too, but mainly her biological sister. It is primarily when they are out of the cage that they are sneezing and it does sound relatively dry. Only occasional, and no fits since the first day I noticed it. I am not sure if i need to quarantine them, take everyone to the vet to be safe (even my three girls who are showing no symptoms). I use a fleece bedding that I change bi weekly as well as carefresh paper bedding. Theyre in a double Critter Nation cage and are not crowded. Any advice? I am going to ask the Vet about Batryl on Tuesday.

Hi everyone,
Looking for info regarding my daughters rat. This am we noticed a lump under his right ear. Upon researching came to the unfortunate conclusion it’s probably a ZGT. I’m just hoping someone may have an alternate theory with a happier ending. Please advise,
Thank you for your time.

Why don't you start your own thread?

When you start a thread (so people such as lilspaz68 will see it and respond) please include some pictures and if possible, more information so that you get a more reliable response

If it is an airborn illness then all of your ratties have been exposed so a quarantine would not do any good. Azithromycin is a baby friendly antibiotic, and baytil works well in combo with it

Hopefully lilspaz68 will soon respond to your questions

thank you! i ended up taking them to the vet and she said the same thing. They ended up sounding good with no breathing issues at all so we decided not to put them on antibiotics yet, as one had already had some and since theyre so young and with myco, we don't want to build up a resistance. I appreciate your response.

well if I knew how I’d do that. Thanks, very fucking helpful...

this is really rude to post on a thread that i posted worried about the health of my baby rats. i understand that you're upset but this is so out of pocket. You diverted a lot of attention i could have gotten that day. please, be more considerate in the future. i hope your daughter's rat is okay.
