Hello,
So i am here again with another issue.
My girl Coco appears to have this reddish color to her urine, which looks like blood.
I first noticed this on Friday 7th and took her to the vets on Saturday 8th. She has since been on Baytril 0.1ml twice a day @ 2.5% strength and metacam at 0.05ml once a day. I just tried to weigh her and she is about I'd day 400g, so could she not be getting enough meds?
I had been struggling to see where she has been peeing, as normally she goes on her platform and for the first time in a few days she did, but it's still looks like she has blood in her urine.
I am going to be making another vets appointment, but does this now rule out a standard infection and is something much worse?
Just wish I can have good things happen with my ratties, but just seems like I keep getting these health issues recently.
She also has been eating, drinking fine and seems her normal self.
Many thanks
Jaana
UPDATE: it's been a little over a month now and after COCO going in for her urine sample on the 17th of June it looked like she was showing signs of improvement being on the antibitocs, fortekor & prednisolone. When i took her in on the 30th of June, her urine showed that the blood had gone down and her proteins, so they lowered her prednisolone down to 1/4 a tablet a day, to which the tablet is 1mg and kept her on the 0.1ml twice a day antibiotics and the fortekor. I took her back to the vets on the 11/07 and she appears to be showing a lot more blood again. They are going to check under the microscope at her urine and have upped her antibiotic to 0.2ml twice a day. I am getting really concerned for her, as it looks like she is showing a bit more blood, then when it first started. I did ask about trying a different antibiotic, but apparently baytril is really good anyways and that some antibiotics can be toxic to rats. I am really lost on what to do. She seems perfectly fine in her self otherwise, just wish this would go away!!!
