Everyone say hello to Saitama! He is half hairless and half Rex which is why his fur looks so odd. I took him in after gizmos passing when I felt emotionally ready will be introducing him to my oldest male soon to see how they do! Wish me luck! Albie has already recovered and been introduced to the mischief! He is adoring the big cage! I have all kinds of levels and such I made for them out of various supplies and he's the happiest I've ever seen him! Thank you for all of the advice! He made a full recovery

Rex babies tend to go bald while they do their baby molt. My little Luci looked like a patchwork boy because he was so bald. You could have a rex baby just molting!

So glad everything's going well!

I am very sorry that happened.
In my experience you can never trust pet stores - people who sign their pets over so they can get whatever care the pet store decides to provide often never see their pet again ….. it is much less expensive to kill a rat, feed it to a snake & lie, or not provide proper vet care then to actually provide medical care - and even if medical care is provided, it is rarely if ever proper care as they do the least expensive and easiest things.

I would want to know why and how he died because that should not have happened

I am so very sorry that happened to Gizmo

From my experience with petco. I bought a VERY young veiled chameleon. Right away he was frail, and not eating right. His left eye closed one day, and he could not open it. It caused him to not be able to eat. I called petco, they said to bring him back, sign him back over to them, and they would get him vet care, and take care of him. My family had already fallen in love with him, so I refused. I looked at the paperwork I had signed, and saw I could take him to a vet of petcos choice, and petco would pay the bill. So I put my foot down and refused to sign him over. Especially when I realized I would have no control after that, and they had no obligation to keep me informed on what happened to him. I took him to the vet, and he had to have special care for almost a month, before I took him to the vet the last time. The vet said petco likely wouldn't have brought him in. It's cheaper to let them die. They would pay more in vet bills than they got paid for the animal to begin with. Needless to say, he got almost 6 weeks of love, care, and attention. We had to pay the final vet bill of over $100, and he died in my daighter's hands 20 mins later, and all we got was a vet bill, hole in our yard, and a broken heart. :(

Yep! This was a petco. Sounds like we had a very similar experience. I am so sorry that happened to you too. I worked with these people so I trusted them and it was a huge mistake. Worst part is they got mad about it when I quit over it! I bet if someone had done that to their dog or cat they wouldn't be so "Oh it was just a feeder" they would be upset too! They tried to hire me back but withi refused. I won't make that place money with how they treated Gizmo. little Saitama though is doing great and I'm glad he's doing so well. His wiskers are curled and I love it so much!

I'm so sorry for each of your experiences with Petco. Unfortunately, what they did to each of you is commonplace and happens to a lot of different pet owners. If the animals aren't sick or maimed by the time they come in your care, they are likely so inbred and poorly cared for that they will have shortened lifespans or lifelong defects.

While I could go on a rant that this is a rescue forum and should only mention rat rescues, I'm not. It doesn't change the fact that Petco doesn't care for lives, whether furred or scaled, and that two animals died due to their negligence.
